CSS question

can a background image have a z-index so that it lays on top of some other elements?

I'm pretty sure it can't have a z-index, but the object you're placing it can.

A background image can't, since it's a property of a class or id, but that class or id can have a z-index... which would put it above other elements.

I won't post it here, as I don't want other phonies biting my methods. I'll give it to you on ICQ though.
