I third that. And all Americans at least (and other countries too) when you are in an airport, or mall, or restaurant or whatever if you see a solider walk up to them. Put out your hand, shake their hand and thank them for their service. I do this anytime I feel like I wouldn't be intruding on their privacy or interrupting something. Most often I do this at the airport as they normally are just waiting around for a flight etc.
Show respect to those that risk their lives to help preserve the rest of our lives.
