    .XXX Domain Approval

Just stumbled across this article discusing the approval on the .xxx domain.

    http://news.cnet.com/Porn-friendly-....3-5728713.html

At first, I did not notice that the article was written nearly 4 years ago so I was happy to see that we are not being forced to make the switch anytime soon. And hopefully, we will never have to....but I am certainly not holding my breath.

I mean, having to go back and rewatermark all of your images and videos with a new watermark, changing out all of your promotional material and links in order to reflect your .xxx domain name, all of the promotion that you had ever done will have the old .com domain extension, etc...what a pain in the ass.

What's the scoop on this bullshit? Any new news on it at all? Do you guys think that the change will ever even take place? What is your opinion on the issue? They have been discussing this for quite some time. I am hoping that it will never go through.

I know that the article is old guys. I quickly realized that as I was reading it. I am just wondering what your thoughts are on the issue and if you ever feel as though it will ever be a requirement for us to make the switch. That's all.

Nevermind guys. Just disregard the post that I made. I am sure that this issue has been discussed here in the past because I remember reading about it so I'll just do a search and read the older posts.

I was just trying to figure out if anyone had any updated information on it and what their thoughts were on the issue. Apparently, there has not been any updated information because otherwise, I am sure that I would have heard about it so I assume nothing new is really going on with it.

The last I heard Icann relaxed the regulations when it comes to registering a new TLD so I assume that the people behind .xxx will be reapplying and trying once again. I don't know if this will happen or not, but I'm sure they will be back trying in the not too distant future.

Even though the issue was talked about several times.

Allow me to put the simple wrinkle in your concerns. You worry about all of the rebranding, watermarking, etc. if you get moved to .xxx - who says you will get the .xxx? There are other TLD's out there and just because someone had the .com nobody says they automatically get the .xxx

Believe me, I have already thought about that. In fact, that has been my main concern ever since I heard about the whole .xxx issue years ago....and that's why I would register my domain name the very first second it was made available.

And what if they decided to hold certain domains hostage or for a premium, because they could.

We don't live in a perfect world where everything always goes our way but all I am saying is that I would do everything in my power to keep the same name. On a worse case type scenario regarding the switch to the .xxx domain, let's say for example, a webmaster was unable to register the same name....at least they would still have the same content (assuming that it is exclusive content) and that's what generates sales to any site. Of course, the name of a site can be important for various reasons but ulitimately, it's the content on the site that is getting the surfers to sign up.

For the webmaster that was unable to register the same site name, as soon as the surfers were to visit the new site, they would immediately realize that it was a different site from the content being displayed on it thus the name of the site would no longer be relevant to the old site. But hopefully, this is something that we will never have to deal with.

The updated info is that well over a year ago ICANN told the .XXX guys to go fuck off, don't let the door hit you on the ass, and no we won't validate your parking.

Why not just diminish the threat by adding to the stupidity?

Let's submit tons more of these useless extensions, so their significance is diluted.

How about we submit .adu, .xx, .x, ..xxxx, .porn, .adult, .18, etc...

Then what would .xxx mean? It would just be another useless TLD.

registration may be delayed. sorry, no refunds!
If your reply was directed towards me by stating for me to use the comm code: "iamsofuckingstupid" then I can assure you that I am very far from being stupid. I never once stated that the change would ever even take place but was rather asking opinions on the issue and if whether or not people felt as though the change would ever even take effect.
