    Has Anyone Done This?

I was wondering if anyone has done this in the past. Bring on someone to handle assets in a revenue share situation?

    Scenerio:

You are good at thinking of new ideas, and then launching sites. Once things are rolling, and money is coming in, you get bored and want to move on to something else. The site has essentially become maintenance instead of a new exciting concept or idea.

This happens to me, as well as others, a lot.

Typically, I will just sell off the asset(s) if I do not want to run them anymore. However, reading through a ShoeBitch post, it had gotten me thinking about bringing in someone to handle assets on a revenue share model. They do all the traffic, and link building. You split the cash.

I am not thinking of an affiliate model which requires support, and whatever. I am talking about one wo/man coming in, sitting in the captain's chair, taking over management of the assets, and then spitting proceeds.

Anyone done this in past? How did it work out?

      On a side note..

At present, I would not consider having my assistants do it because they are worker bees. Processing, watermarking, uploading video. AS well doing forum posts, blog updates, cropping pictures, among countless other mundane tasks. Basically, they are worker bees with little industry knowledge. Which is good and bad. Easily replaceable and to replicate.

The advantage of bringing in someone seasoned is that they would have some knowledge, experience, and motivation over someone just punching a clock.

You don't employ anyone that has any ambition to be more than a worker bee? If you have someone you know is reliable and smart why not give them the opportunity.

I have done something like this.. It was a bit different, I paid a low set amount every month, until it was covered which was several months. This allowed me to create a ending point, giving me back control of the products, and it built them up.

I did this with a Program once too, and the partner flaked hard... Lucky for me I got stuck with all the goods.

I am in SW Michigan, and no. Not a lot of people looking to be pornographers. However, there are a lot of people who will work mindlessly for money because of the economy with little or no ambition, or long term thinking.

That goes for models, assistants, and construction.

Agreed. I would do it for 1-2 years. Which is what most companies do.

                          Funny pic in sig.

Yeah, for me, I develop these assets, and then kinda lose interest. Plus, as you can see from content deals, I have a lot of solid gold content and money makers. However, my attention is on new company, girls, and sites.

If I can't sell remaining assets, then instead of old going to waste. I can rework them, and go from there on a split deal. I am a big one for accountability. So in this type of deal, you succeed. You get paid 50%. You fail. No cost to me beyond time.

I would say - don't bring in someone seasoned, bring in someone who you, personally, think can do the job. Keep yourself in the 'master' position.

If the asset is already running then it should be turning cash and hire someone. Do not split the ownership. If they cannot do the job to keep the paycheck they could not do it to get half. Anyways it is a lot easier to get rid of an employee then a partner.

do not get a partner, as in split money and/or ownership.
just hire somebody who is a workaholic and needs the cash, they are to be found.

just hire somebody who is a workaholic and needs the cash, they are to be found.
I feel you, and I am not looking for a partner.

My thoughts on this were, I have three sites that are basically sitting dead in the water. I can put money into them to be revamped, and more than enough content now, and could be for future. These assets can still make money as long as they are being promoted, traffic building and so on.

As for the partnered on payment I was thinking any clock puncher is not going to be motivated to get the max return on sites. Where as someone directly tied to the success of said sites would be breaking their back to make the most money out of them, and capitalize on the rewards.
