Took my mom to see it for mothers day last night after going to the park/hiking and dinner.

She really liked it but she seen all the old star treks and knew what was up.

Me however, I dont know shit about star trek but it was still aight. Cool effects and pretty good acting but didnt know what was going on.

She really liked it though knowing the history.

I saw it yesterday! Great Movie for those who aren't die hard trekkies!

For the rest of us, it was a good movie, but them fuxxing with the storyline made for some "rage" moments lol. All in all I think 95-99% of people will like it, trekkie or not, and the other 1-5% of people will think Gene Roddenberry should come back from the great beyond to bitchslap JJ Abrams.

Personally, im already looking forward to the next one, and hope that JJA will consider a TV series as well (hopefully with them a bit older, the whole teen angst thing was eh)

**SPOILER ALERT**

I dunno, at first I thought "what a cop out," by having the alternate timeline, but time travel and alternate timelines have been a fixture since the original series. What better way to reboot the entire Star Trek franchise than to set up a new fork in time. I got over the disappointment to realize that now they can come up with whole new stories without us die-hard Trekkies pointing out things that contradict previous movies or episodes.

I liked the film too but wasnt to impressed by the plot line however i see your point about rebooting the movies I just think trek has used the timetravel story line abit much to be honest.
Especially if you consider the whole series of enterprise was a waste of time.

JJ Abrams and his entire kiss ass writing crew can lick my sweaty ball sack. The only thing they forgot to add was jar-jar binx so they can sell more happy meals.

A few weak plot holes, but overall definitely worth checking out!

Saw it.. I thought it was just OK... felt like a long TV episode to me at times rather than a movie unto itself.

Also thought that there were too many things that felt like they were borrowed from other movies (both star trek and not).

Anyways.. it kept me entertained. Was it amazing? no.

The movie wasn't anything special. Entertaining yes, but the plot was pretty weak.
