    Canonical URLs - do you redirect them all to 1?

    Do you redirect all Canonical URLs to 1 URL ? I want to automate this shit for WP.

    Canonical's should point to root url of whatever page you are on minus duplicating factors such as sort directions, etc.

    ie http://root.com/ is good
    http://root.com/page2.htm is good
    http://root.com/page2.htm?sort:asc is bad

        rel Canonical to the one version of the URL that you link to excluding get variables. If you have a sitemap verified by google, don't worry about it. Google treats the sitemap version of the URL to be the Canonical version.

        just make sure the version in the sitemap and the version of the link across and coming to your site are the same
