McDonald's accepts credit/debit cards

Who the hell is gonna charge a $4.00 meal using their debit/credit card. Is there a market for this?

Unfortunately so. Haven't you ever been behind some bastard in the 10 items line at the supermarket who's writing a check for a gallon of milk and a loaf of bread?

I have actually seen someone buy a McDonalds meal with a debit card. Less than $10 was the total as I recall. Sad really.

Well, there's about 320 million people in the states only. There's enough poeple in the world to buy/use pretty much anything. I'm pretty sure they've thought of this already.

The funny thing is, I was at Staples and I didn't have any money. I charged .70 to send a fax on my debit card.

..many times. And I will continue to do so. So what?
I rarely carry cash with me, I pay all by stuff with plastic. 3.90? big-mac meal.. or 1.25$ shopping spree @ my grocery store.

In the benighted US of A, this isn't popular.

But in Canada, many people never carry cash - it's called "Interac" and is the standard for paying by debit (not credit)..

It takes about 15 seconds.

Cheers,
Backov

I never understood why, when going through the drive through, i can't point my cellphone at a scanner and charge it there, or run my debit card for a quick pay. Cash just seems silly unless i'm in Vegas.

I have been doing this at fast food places for ages.

Let's say I'm hungry and out of cash. I wander into fast food place and order something. Ask them to charge $40 to my CC.

You see, stores like electronic money. You won't get away with this if they don't have much money in the registers though.

when i went to north carolina last spring i didn't bring any cash with me. i was thinking the states would be just as advanced as canada. boy was i wrong. nobody took debit cards or visa. at mcdonalds i asked the girl if they took visa and she looked at me like she didn't even know what a visa was. crazy shit.

Same here I don't carry cash not to often, I like to see where I spend my money. Hell here in Orlando every fast food place accepts CC cards.

I hardly ever carry cash. Everywhere else takes my credit and debit cards, and I spend less when I don't have money on me. I wish the fast food places here would take plastic, but its cash-only. So I take the same card, walk outside to a cash machine, get too much cash (rounding up to the nearest 10 or 20), and pay. Why not just take the beknighted card?!

Yeah, surprising to see the US are so much behind Canada on that. I would even say that someone in Canada who does not use his debit card for over 75% of his daily transactions is an exception. Why would you carry cash around when you can pay with a debit card in only 10-15 seconds and not bother with small change filling your pockets all the time.

I think the only place where it is more common to bring cash than pay by debit card is bars, because you have to pay every time you order a drink and you have to give tip to the waitress, and money is usefull in those times

All the fast food places here in Vegas do this.

I use my visa debite/check card to pay for my less than $5.00 meal all the time.

BFD...what does it matter to you how someone pays for something?

The only time I'm ever pissed at any form of payment is when the Grandma in front of me uses a check to pay for 1 can of 9-lives she and gramps are sharing for supper.

Nextel has a phone that will be coming out soon that does this.

Looks pretty cool so far!

a market for this? it's been this way for years here in Canada. I never carry any cash in my pockets...and McDonalds and other shitty fastfoods are slowing down, so they are going to do anything to make more money

they already do that here in sweden...

a couple of weeks ago i bought a cookie at a cafe for like 40 cents, i think they got pretty mad when i bought it with my card since visa propably charges them more than 40cents for that transaction...

The good is that you now have a record of business meals at Mickey D's for the Taxman.

The bad is that under the new "Homeland Security database" your Uncle knows you eat there.

The Ugly is what becomes of you eating at McDonalds!

same idea as a speed pass... we have several gas stations in canada that take that (dunno about the us)
you have a magnetic thing on your key chain, and you just wave it over a sensor (similar to a security pass in an office) and it charges all your gas purchases (or purchases inside the gas station convenience store) to your credit card

Wow!

I had no idea that America was so behind the times.

Businesses have been accepting debit cards here for years. It's almost mandatory. It would be a surprise to walk into any store, large or small, and not be able to use your debit card.

Why wouldn't you want to use it?

It's faster for everyone.

In Canada, cash is twice as annoying...they have those fucking 1 dollar and 2 dollar coins...I was there for a week and was walking around with $50 in coins in my pocket after 3 days...I starting paying for stuff with stacks of chips...felt like Vegas...
