software is also very important. most of the people who are designing some really cool stuff are using Photoshop, a vector program like Illustrator, Flash, and a 3D program.
Though without creativity all the great tools won't help you out. PaintShopPro will do EVERYTHING Photoshop can do for under a hundred bucks, hell it might be under 50 bucks. Only drawback to PSP is there is a smaller community of users so not as many websites devoted to it with tutorials, actions etc. ImageReady makes slicing up designs a breeze. I'm not familiar with Photoshop Elements, is it some web design package? Sounds like it. If so i'm sure there are enough tools in it to make nice designs. Just don't use the bevel thing in Photoshop, it looks like shit when most people use it. Go look at a magazine, CD cover, brochures, packaging - you don't see much bevelled text. Cuz it looks stupid in most instances.

A lot of professional designers use 1 of 2 tools:
Adobe Imageready or Macromedia Fireworks. Also, a VERY good GUI based HTML editor is Dreamweaver MX. Avoid Frontpage like the plague. Also, I will back up some of the boys here- real designers need to know HTML. Cheers, Backov

SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, then you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60. |
