Stomping on the 1st ammendent via ted turner & the media eh?

So at the last minute.....as news agencies/newspapers/tv stations are crumbling apart.

In the last hour, they are going to "Save it" all by passing some new laws & "going after" the evil-doers stealing the content.

What happens now?

Will sites that offer the news for free become the new Pirate Bay?

Will freedom of speech & free flow of ideas become a federally regulated entity?

This has got to be the scariest thing I've ever heard in my life.

First i thought they'd come for our guns. Now i see the real agenda

These are just logical steps to take after 8 years of Bush. The government will continue to walk down the road to fascism. People seem to forget the Nazi party was a socialist party.

Of course they are going after free speech. Senator Jay Rockefeller has been saying that the Internet never should have been created. It is the one thing that slipped through the cracks and they are desperately trying to get a hold on it. The Internet is tyranny's biggest enemy right now... it is the ultimate free-flowing of ideas and information. But soon people who run things like alternative news sites will probably be deemed "terrorists."

You can already start to see it happening with Google. I mean, gee, what a fucking coincidence that Google is now a corporate member of the Council on Foreign Relations and Google CEO Eric Schmidt attended last year's Bilderberg meeting in Chantilly, Virginia. Hmm, what a surprise...

This isn't about Republican and Democrat, this is a plan that has been in the works for a long long time. Nothing is going to "change" as long as you keep voting in either a Republican or Democrat puppet, we are headed down the same exact path we have been headed down for decades. Call it fascism, call it communism, call it tyranny, call it the New World Order, call it whatever you want to call it, but it's real and it's all about power and control. Their power and control comes from the central banking system, which most people still don't even understand. If the Internet stays the way it is now then tyranny will most likely be defeated, but if they get the Internet completely under wraps like they want where they call the shots and regulate/censor whatever they like then it might be game over, because we all know the corporate mainstream media is a farce.

Going after people using content they dont have permission to use is not freedom of speech issue.

This isn't about copyright issues, this is about the end of net neutrality, about limiting the free flow ow information...

Net neutrality is not about you can putting shit on your site that's not yours. You want to do research and write your own blog there are no laws against that. Its the free flow of ideas and information you know or did the work to find out.

Murdoch and Turner etc don't want to protect their content... They want people to pay for access to their content and eliminate other sources (free sources) of content (different content).

respectfully... i must disagree... (at least about the degree of severity of his quote)

TLDR version....

ideas = should be protected under 1st amendment and freely distributable
products = should not be protected under 1st amendment
digital 'products' are not IDEAS, they are digital 'things', products someone paid to produce
a legal distinction is required
you may skip past now

in their defense....

News (paper / network / magazine/ ...) entities need to hire and pay (for) reporters photographers, buildings, vehicles, brodcast and printing equipment, benefits, lawyers, office supplies, specialized 'brodcast' quality video equipment, sattelites, and on and on.

so... should they not be able to turn a profit on their product?

what I think it should be about...

a law that governs the definition of what a 'product' is and what an 'idea' is, and music, video, photos, and programs/custom scripts/operating systems should be included along with all hard goods/products.

too many people think that they can justify their copyright infringements by imagining that a 'free internet' means that anything on there is free, that anything that can be copied is free to be copied.

I believe that news and things of great importance to the human race including mathematical concepts, philisophical idealogy, political viewpoints, and all IDEAS should be free - and that freedom be protected by law.

but shouldn't your website, blogs, social pages, etc LINK to the news site - and not copy paste it to your place for advertising???? - simple as that - and i think they are protecting their right to be the source of the content they produce.

none of the people who copy/paste to their site are gathering and disseminating the news - they are a flock of seagulls all trying be the 'first' to shout it (while their ads are displayed), while someone else pays to gather it for them.

and I hope they put it thru on terms similar to what I've said... and give some legal power to the businesses that operate in the digital products realm (or products that are able to be digitized).

Net neutrality means that you can "SAY" what you want to - not, you can "TAKE" what you want to.

i r shutting up now...

If they (murdoch/turner/...) want to charge $$ for access to THEIR content, that's fine... But what they want to do doesn't stop there... They also want to restrict others from producing and publishing their own content.

do you really believe that?
is that a quote from them? (link pls)
or is it someone paraphrasing what they thought they said?

we both know that that won't happen

but the outcome may be a law that defines digital products as goods - and at least give the news sources a one or two day 'right to initial broadcast and dissemination' - because news just becomes history after that (and that should be free)

I will be happy
as the side benefits to digital producers will be enormous
