Quelle horreur!

And yes: I understand what you've written. You're pissed that disgraced18 content goes to humiliated/pornpros.com. But because cookies are carried, if the surfer decided to typein disgraced18.com or pornpros.com or fuck-my-hamster-in-the-ass.com and not click your link, you'd be fucked in either case.

You're not losing anything at all.

you're a great photographer, but you don't seem to understand how cookies and type-in works, nor the point of the OP. If the surfer clicks a link to Site A and then types-in a few days later (the amount of days depends on how shady or honest is the program), then teh aff gets the sale (the same can be said depending how the video is served, in an ideal world if you're pulling videos from RSS or hotlinking or FHG the cookie should be served, but that creates other problems, so let's stick to this far from perfect world).

Now, if the surfer types in the URL for a program (Site B) which doesn't have the cookie in surfer's machine, then the affiliate is fucked. The aff is right on this point, despite what many said said up to the half of the thread.

On the other hand, things are what they are, and I think the OP should contact FYC before making this thread, maybe he could have get help of some sort, maybe he'd have to write a thread saying "FYC is top notch" instead of this dumb thread. I mean, no disrispect to the OP, but I'm quite sure Biggy isn't putting a gun against your head, so you have the option to not promote them and that's it. Or act professional and contact them before hand instead of whining (which I don't think will help you at all)

Whatever, this thread is a massive display of dumbness as a whole :Oh crap

oh, and 50 FWIW

Here's the final thought on this. We are hardly the first big company to watermark our content with a different URL like a megasite. I think in this day and age, with the amount of piracy going on, it's fair to 'brand' your content. Whether it goes to the original url, or a different url, if the surfer types it in before they click, no cookie is stored, but what sponsor today is going to give out non-watermarked content when piracy is at its height? if the click before, your cookie is already stored. I think its also important to note that humiliated.com is no different than pornpros.com - humiliated.com is a simple cookieless redirect to pornpros.com

humiliated.com wasn't random - theres a reason we are branding it. at the end of the day, its our job to deliver results to affiliates so they make the most cash. i think we do that well, better than most. promote us because we make you more $$$, end of story. we cannot satisfy everyone nor do we think everyone agrees with every decision we make, but the one thing we always remain consistent on - if our affiliates dont make good money, then we wont be in business for long, and our business is predicated on that. if people don't make sales, then they wont promote us. the reality is - we have some of the most unique and best content out, people make money with us, we run $100 PPS days almost every week, and affiliates earn with us. i would hardly call that disrespectful to affiliates. :2 cents:

#1 - Actually...
Cookies aren't XS, of course, but NATS linking domains point to the same place.
If your pants are on fire over this issue, change your linking code from http://join.disgraced18.com/track/MTEyOjk0OjIx/ [for example] to
http://join.pornpros.com/track/MTEyOjk0OjIx/

Still links to the same place, and the cookie is magically picked up, should the user a go to the lengths of typing in to try to avoid your linking code...

Now of course, if the surfer is typing in a watermark, chances of him having clicked your link - slim to none.

If this continues to piss you off, then you should be embedding an iframe w/ your tracking code in it anyway, to ensure the cookie was set from the get go.

Of course as well, you could link to NATS in a fashion not dissimilar to CCBill, ie, before your gallery, or whatnot, and have it redirect there, ensuring your cookies are set, too.

You're right, I don't know shit about cookies. I don't have an oven, and I could never get the baking soda ratio right when I ran out of self-raising flour.. :(

I only have one thing to say!!! FYC is one of the best sponsors out there!!! I hope they will keep up this work..
As for the watermark: webmasters dont like it, but the sponsors must put them.. It's like you sell milk, coke or something else and you don't put your brand on it! Don't you think the same?
Keep up the good work FYC!

Ivo and Biggy are great guys!!!!

I like for the watermark on the video to be the same domain as the link that
will be cilcked by the surfer.

If they see aaa.com on the video and click the link and go to bbb.com then
a reasonable person may believe they clicked the wrong link or maybe this is
false advertising or bait and switch.

O.M.G... This is so full of misinformation that it borders on being criminal... Putting your watermark on the video has ZERO to do with protecting it. It's about "BRANDING".. that's a MARKETING term.. You want surfers to remember the name of the site and TYPE IT IN thus gaining the program sales they keep 100% to themselves. And when surfers see a video or pictures on a site that's advertising another site, they will type in the domain thus cutting out the affiliate. Anyone that doesn't believe that is a moron.. Any program saying it doesn't happen or is "minimal" is a blatent liar. Surfers have been trained over the year to know that the content they see on a gallery is NOT what they will necessarily get if they sign up to the program.. Knowing that, they're going to type in the domain to try and ensure they DO get that content.

Here's the kicker.. In order to "protect" their content, programs would be embedding their coywrite in the video themselves when they encode it.. VERY FEW do that.. THAT'S what's required to protect their property, NOT watermarking. Any program that isn't embedding the info in their videos is blatently lieing to you about why they use their branding watermarks.

So if you're an affiliate, then stop being stupid.. Rip the FHGs to your own server and cut out the fucking watermark.. You WILL see an increase in your sales. And if you're smart, you'll use a template system on the galleries so that if the site goes away or the program starts to redirect it, you can make the changes yourself in just minutes.

we also allow people to submit to tube sites with their own watermarks as long as it generates sales and as long as that url forwards to us. there's also time limit parameters, we obvious limit what can and cant go on a tube in terms of time and have people for us that help enforce that. :2 cents:

you need to lower the emotion level buddy, its not some huge conspiracy theory, its branding. its also protective, so the know where it came from. just today a friend of mine is passing around a deepthroat video via email, thank goodness it has my watermark on there. hmm, its probably unfair of coca cola to brand their product also, that they should return to the same store over and over again to purchase it lol. i dont think anyone can hold us to fault over branding, its essential to long term viability. over time, people remember the brands. -- its not short term, its long term and -- we work with our affiliates. :thumbsup

p.s. thanks for calling me a borderline criminal LOL.

fuzebox 04-30-2009 12:09 PM

The weird thing about this thread is that if the surfer types in the watermarked url you're going to lose that sale, no matter what the domain is.

Again... It's not about protecting your content. It's about generating sales from typein traffic. The video being passed via email.. It's not about "protecting" that content.. it's about generating sales from it being passed around.

Looks like many people here are more interested in repping their board image than protecting their business.

Also lots of the program owners here started as affiliates, and still promote other sites through their free sites and membership areas.

To hate on this guy for posting what is clearly a bad thing for affiliates, is well, retarded.

Seems like anyone who is concerned about their business and brings it up here gets bashed for being a whiner, crier, low money maker, or should just "do something else then".

You guys need to grow up.

Affiliates are supposed to be partners with programs, to help drum up business. That relationship is being tested pretty hardcore in 2009 it seems, and it's only natural to talk about it.

This is a discussion forum, right?

Snake Doctor 04-30-2009 06:23 PM

OP has a point.
It could appear to the surfer that you're jacking content from one site to promote another, and if they like the content they'll type in the url of the watermark rather than clicking a link on the page the content is displayed on.

Definite traffic leak. No way to know how big of one, but a leak none the less.....and with the 8 bazillion sponsor programs out there begging for traffic, why would you promote one that does this?

True....BUT, if I have a link that says "Download this full video at sponsorsite.com", and the url on the video is sponsorsite.com, then the surfer is going to click the link.

If I have a link to sponsorsite.com, and the url on the video is SOMEOTHERsite.com, then the surfer who wants the full video thinks they have to visit SOMEOTHERsite.com to get it.

CamTraffic 04-30-2009 06:38 PM

i like em, their content convert better than 99% of the sites i see here, they pay on time, and their affiliate support is top notch , stop crying and bashing them, were you sending them traffic and all the sudden your clips got watermarked?
If you never promoted them, then just move along and promote somebody else.

Fuck You Cash... They chose that name for something...

malcarada 04-30-2009 09:56 PM

I also think the OP makes a good point, and there is a traffic leak.

Fuck you cash wants to watermark? No problem at all, everyone does, nice and fair.

Do you want to watermark with a different URL? No thank you, that is a traffic leak. If paying $100PPS is too much, then pay less, but dont do traffic leaks. :2 cents:

Why 05-01-2009 01:23 AM

if you don't like what they do, pull your links. i for one don't see a problem with what they are doing whatsoever and there any many many programs doing much worse. if the surfer types in the domain the affiliate is fucked either way, and with a site the size of pornpros.com the odds of the person finding that exact same scene again in there 1400+ scenes is very low IMHO. they will get lost in the rest of the content and order anyways, so the "its misleading" argument is somewhat moot in my opinion.

maybe if so many shady affiliate sites weren't baiting and switching and sending people to blind and irrelevant/unrelated links, circle jerks and pop-up hells. the surfer wouldn't feel the need to avoid clicking links and type-in the watermark domain instead.... ever think of that?

does anyone remember the days BEFORE sponsors gave out piss loads of free promo content and gallery builders bought their own? the surfer probably doesn't know the difference, its been going on since day one. your advanced internet users, remember that. well, at least some of you are i think.

Biggy has also stated he will allow other watermarks upon approval, did you even inquire with pb or ivo about such an arrangement prior to bitching?

If that's the case then why watermark the content at all? Since the guy jerking off can't think or remember things?

Remember though, if you start giving me reasons why ppl should watermark content, then you're "looking into this much too deeply"

Bottom line is, this leaves a bad taste in the mouth of affiliates. It's only purpose is to create a traffic leak. I can't think of another good reason to put a different url on content than the one affiliates send traffic to.

So with all the programs out there fighting for traffic, why would you do business with someone pulling shit like this?

People need to stop blindly defending the "bros" and get real. Just because someone is your friend or bought you a drink or a lapdance at a show doesn't mean they're not wrong for doing this.

How hard is it to add above the video, FREAKS OF COCK from the guys at PORNPROS NETWORK (video watermarked Pornpros).

It certainly isnt hurting my promotions, and there is no question about why the freaksofcock video has a different URL watermarked.

Its their content, if you have a problem with it, don't use it.
