i agree with you. the government always works best in response to a crisis as opposed to pre-emption. exactly like iraq, someone can fuck up & there was no need to do it. But in this case, the nukes are not in doubt, & our enemy is not a straw man. How to respect the values of our country & deal with this? My gut is that will be Obamas direction. We will see how it works.

i am a little suprised there is no appetite in america to finish off the taliban. War fatique is running strong in our culture. My feeling is we will not finish the job until a nuclear 911 happens first.

i can see that like in 2000, if we invaded afgan without 911, nobody would have supported it. there is no hero trophy for stopping something that didnt happen.

& iraq shows just what a quagmire a pakistan invasion would potentially become.

So i guess we are fucked. I'll Just keep a big stash of weed on hand for the day the Taliban dance around their new nuclear toys.
