Hi GFY, I need your help on a forum member possibly trying to rip me off.

Hey everyone..

Here is the story.

I sent money to a board member on here back in early February for some content. He has a good reputation so I've been very patient. He also owns a site which he's sent the first video and model records from.

Back in February, he agreed to create some videos for me. 3 days after we spoke he had already created and sent me the first video, and asked for payment up-front for that video and the remaining videos. At that time he told me the videos would take a week to complete. Well after I sent him the money he started to disappear for weeks at a time.

He logs on to ICQ and GFY everyday yet ignores my emails for weeks at a time and sends me a short email stating his "cable was broken", his computer got formatted, he's sick, he will finish the videos in a couple days, etc.

Anyways, his domain is registered through Enom and I was able to get all his information. I also have his SMS and other information.

My question is, how long would you guys wait until you call this guy out on a bunch of public forums to get what was promised? What are the rules on posting all his personal information? At the rate he's responding I have a feeling he doesn't intend to ever complete the videos.

If he's ignoring and doing nothing but feed you excuses, he's ripped you off already and has little or no intent on paying it back.

Pretty good chance after this amount of time and the fact he still goes on ICQ and GFY.

You will never see your money or vids.

Outting him will just save someone else from making the same mistake. You wait a week and it just gives him a chance to rip off more people before you out him.

But I doubt he will EVER pay you back.

what is this crap about 'outing' somebody - if somebody has ripped you off or isn't delivering products/services you paid for in part or in whole you are an idiot for not bringing it to GFY - why would you worry about somebody's reputation or feelings after treating you like shit or ripping you off?

only time i wouldn't do it is if the person is well liked in the industry and you don't have great evidence that you can back up your claims with.

buy from reputable content producers like me and you won't have any issues. and you must pay some up front, enough to cover model fees after we've done business for a bit until then you must pay all up front.

had to start that after losing 17.5K one year to a client and the slow pay of other clients. -bmb

I say in contact with my clients letting them know the progress of the productions. there is a pretty standard 40% shoot failure on custom content so I need to stay in contact to apprise the clients of any changes. usually within 2-3 weeks from order to delivery in most cases.

it's always best to select a handful of talent to choose from and let then me do what I can to shoot them.... when you say "I want this model with that model" it could take months if ever to get a shoot done.

He'd probably prefer to have the content delivered, rather than a 7 page calling out thread and the payment written off as unrecoverable...

That's probably how a lot of scammers are able to ride so long, they keep alive a small hope that the victim may eventually get what they've paid for.

Like I said, even if this guy ponies up and delivers, you still need to out him.
