Forged Page Rank

I have been told twice in the last week that my pagerank on www.xxxwhispers.com is forged.

I could use a little help in determining if that is true, how that is possible, and what steps I have to take to fix this. I have spoken to the hosting company and they have no answers.

I would appreciate any help that anyone could provide concerning this matter.

The second link you posted attempted to load the Bloodhound.Exploit.196 which my norton stopped. Not sure why you would post that link.

Seriously, I need to know if this page is forged and what I can do about it, how it impacts me and how this could have occurred.

Any help would be appreciated.

did you just recently propagate the whole site? or are those blog entry dates legit?

it seems really strange to have a pr5 site with every other page and category page in the site as unranked, almost like the site was recently reworked

Use google, seriously.

Do you own this domain?

The hosting company lost all of the data for xxxwhispers, so yes, all of the posts were back propogated using RSS feeds from sponsors. The site was offline for a total of three days. They say the registration lapsed and their auto alert system did not notify them. I rebuilt the site using wordpress (it was using drupal before that).

The domain shows pr3 to me, not pr5.

The site was most likely 301'd to the registrar, to the host, or to another page (that had pr5), during this downtime you mentioned but it looks like they allready have readjusted it if its now showing as a 3 (which I see it as).

EDIT, looking at google cache of the page shows this

http://74.125.95.132/search?sourceid...hispers.com%2F

which is the cache of BitTraffic. Which also has a pr3, which is probably where your page rank of 3 is coming from (forged).

personally, I don't think your Page Rank is forged, it just looks suspicious because you rebuilt your site recently, but I think it is legit

the thing is, you may be in the process of losing some pagerank, hard to say for sure, maybe you recently lost a good backlink or links, but as it is now the PR seems legit to me

one thing to keep in mind is that the PR google is reporting now is just a snapshot of an earlier day, and may be changing since, which will reflect in the next "PR update" by google which seems to happen every few months

you will likely have knowledgable people suspicious of doing linktrades with your site until google catches up in the next pr update, just because of the way it looks now, but don't panic, just continue doing what you are doing and give google some time

unfortunately things like your site crash can be a real bitch with google, as google is all about "trust" and doesn't like drastic changes to entire site structures, but like I said don't panic, just keep working on it and google will come around

I do not own bittraffic. It was a small site I put together two years ago using drupal, when one of my sponsors recommended I get into blogging. Bittraffic was a site I was using to host an IRC server I owned, which I have since shut down. I just threw them some money and asked them to host the site. I didn't understand blogging at the time and to be honest I totally forgot about the site until someone mentioned to me that it was a PR5. I was completely surprised, but I figured it was because the link lists I tied to a few years ago became popular.

I am not trying to sell ads on this site, or use the PR in any way that I believe is malicious, but I would like to know what the impact on me is and how I can address this.

interesting, so the pr3 that you and some of the prcheckers is showing is the actual forged one

I still think the pr5 is legit, but it might be on shaky grounds for the next pr update if he has in fact lost any backlinks or changed the internal pages that they were pointing to

It has to do with the "redirect" when you were down. Not much you can do now except wait it out. Next time pay attention to your domain expiry dates...

who against? your hosting company for your server going down? Google for reporting an "incorrect" or out of date PR? the people that are accusing you incorrectly of "forging" your page rank??

don't think google is under any obligation to our sites at all, in a blink we can be deindexed completely with PR-unranked for no good reason at all...... would love it if we could get some kind of revenge when shit happens, but not too likely
