If they think they can totally avoid creating new power sources they are delusional... sure, we can make equipment more energy efficient (which we should) but more and more we rely on electricity and the population continues to grow. Doubt it would ever happen. But that's one of the dumbest things I've heard, banning them based on the size. If all they care about is the power large TVs eat up then ban them based on watts.
LED-LCD TVs take up less power than normal LCDs and a lot less than plasmas. They're also better quality than normal LCDs and plasmas too. There's some specs for samsung 46 inch that runs about 140w to 220w and a 55 inch that doesn't take up much more (about 20 watts).Comment
