Only downside I can see is the pirates have been very peaceful. They have held hostages for months and once released, the hostages were scared, but never mistreated. This Captain even tried to escape and he was not killed. I hope after this operation the pirates don't become more violent when they have been pretty peaceful in the past and have only wanted money.

The reason the ships don't use security or fight back is because they don't want to escalate things in fear it will cause loss of life. Up until now that has worked. I hope this doesn't escalate things.

Stealing the ship does little for them, they can't sell it and it's easily track able.. No one is going to pay a ransom for a ship. They pay ransoms to get the crews back. The pirates keep doing what they are doing because people keep paying the ransoms.

I've been following this story all week and I love the outcome. I don't know if the pirates will escalate their actions because of this. The reason they didn't kill the captain when he tried to escape is because they knew without him they had absolutely nothing. No one cares if they steal a lifeboat and without a hostage they were as good as dead.
