How do I get the headphone jack on the front of my PC to work?
By hooking that to the motherboard, will it work for my soundcard? Or do I need to connect it directly to my soundcard somehow? Back in the day there was a cable to the CD-Rom drive, but I dunno about this headphone jack..

should be a jumper on the motherboard to hook the front plug on the case in, i know that works with integrated now normal cards might have the plug on it.

Be sure to set the master volume to the right level and be sure the mute is turned off.

Do you actually have a soundcard? 99% of the people just use onboard audio..

hehe yea I have a couple.. I'm seriously contemplating swapping actually.. Right now I have a soundblaster X-Fi that's good for games, because it takes over the processing duties for sound, increasing performance. However I use big reference monitor speakers on my PC, and have a Echo Mia soundcard for music that I could use. Advantage to that is the 1/4" plugs, one for each speaker (like for an electric guitar for example).
With my X-Fi I get a high pitched hiss that I can't seem to get rid of. Starts as soon as windows initializes. Doesn't happen with the other soundcard.. |

If it comes to it, i'll order a 6ft headphone extension cable from Monoprice for $0.61. In fact, now that I think of it, if someone here wants one too we can take advantage of a bulk savings deal at only $0.59 each. That's a full savings of 4 cents, that I'll gladly split. http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2 Kinda like when I asked at the music store how I can get a manual rotary knob for the volume on my speakers here, instead of having to use software.. They recommended the "Big Knob" for only like $300... lolz.. not quite a $300 problem.. ![]() |

Do you need the headphone jack to work so that you can watch porn with the sound up without waking everyone else up?
