    Canon HX A1

    I'm thinking about picking one up.

    Anybody have one or know much about them?

              Um...Yeah. I'm very familiar with B&H but will be purchasing it in a local store with no shipping, no sales tax, and no problems if the camera needs to be exchanged/serviced/whatever.

                              I used the GL2 for years without any problems..
                              Now i am using a FX1 and am very impressed, bigger camera but it handles very steady and with lots more options.
                              It seems sony for video is more and more preferred by the porn programs and editors etc.

                                      Already have an FX1. Need a 3rd HD camera for some basic stuff.

                                      Thanks for the info. What I need this for is a very basic 3rd camera angle for interviews...Nothing too demanding. Instead of spending 3k on the HX A1, I just picked up a Canon 5D Mark II instead. Been wanting this camera for awhile and since it does basic HD video which is all I need...Seemed like the logical thing to do. I can't believe I found one in stock though. Everybody still has them on back order.

                                                      Yeah B&H are great prices and offer quality warranties. I got a lot of stuff from them, but there damn "We are closed for this holiday for 2 weeks" is LAME!!! Good info on the HX-A1 I was looking for one just like this, normally I'm a Sony man but I think I'm going with Canon this time.

                                                          It's a great friggin cam. I'd take it over the FX1 anyday. Thing cracks and creaks with every move of the hand. If you come up to Vancouver you can play with mine. The camera I mean. ;)

                                                              If you're a shooter (like 99% of the industry fits in this category) that only uses auto exposure, auto focus, auto white balance, etc.. Stick with a Sony, you probably would have an easier time. Everyone describes the XH A1 as the video person's film camera. The 24p is second to none, and it's a hidden gem that most porn people can't seem to figure out.

                                                                  A few years back I was in Phoenix and you and I almost worked with each other. If I had known you were a Sony MAN back then I could have saved a lot of time and ruled out working with you right away.
