    The twitter secret

    I get new followers every once in a while.
    Their stats usually are remarkable.

    So they must use a bot. Such a bot would be rather simple. It would just have to spider twitter and add any user whose following-to-follower ratio is greater than one. Those tend to be the users who will follow you back.
    When you look at the rather successful twitter marketers (who I suspect use bots), their following-to-follower ratio is near 1.

    Also, a good bot would need to check back once in a while and remove the people who don't follow you.

                      i do not think so thats the case.

                      first the well known people get lots of followers.

                      then people post and chat to them.

                      as they do people join those tweet sites.

                      they also post interesting stuff which can then be re tweeted (thats the key).

                      this will get them more followers.

                      you get this spiders web of posts.

                                              All mainstream is doing right now is making Twitter scripts and apps to compile and spam and collect etc etc etc. People are after followers like PR rankings, for some that will turn into income and for most it will be long winded bragging rights.

                                              This bubble is going to burst and quick, March was their biggest growth month so far, probabaly cuz the media jumped on it after Obama made such a splash with it.

                                              Twitter has no revenue model but many millions in VC funding it wil be interesting to see how this plays out.

                                                      I do hope the twitter premium which will be a paid service curbs some of that.
