Hmmm... I've had my standard macbook for a year and three months, as my main computer which I use TOO many hours a day and leave on at night. It's still running fine and it's only really frozen completely on me like 3 times and I use some hefty software.

My friend bought a Dell laptop 6 months ago, he's had to replace it twice. Plus that damn trackpad is the worst fucking clunky thing in the world, the internet works intermittently among a thousand other little shitty problems.

I'm happy I spent the extra $700 or whatever. Well worth not having to worry if my laptop is going to crash on me.. especially when I'm VJing at a show with it.

i haven't ran spybot since last december, yes i know the reason why macs don't get a virus. the thing is i don't think apple wants the whole market, they make what they make with their 'niche' market.

My Toshiba laptop is almost 4 years old now. I got Ubuntu installe don it, and the thing still runs great. Everything runs nice and snappy. It cost me $1100 years ago, you could probably buy one for $50 at a garage sale now.

Seriously, the only thing Mac has over most PCs is a decent operating system, some trendy designers, and a good marketing team who push the "Macs are cool, and you ar eif you buy one" bullshit really well.

Macs are about 10% better and cost as much as double the price.
But I do admit they are better computers.

But one thing Mac fanboys miss is that if Apple ran the world, you wouldn't even be reading this right now. It was the open architecture of the PC that allowed the prices to come down month after month for over a decade and also allowed for the innovation we see today in the home PC market, networking, and the internet. The cheap home PC is what made the internet explode.

If Apple controlled the PC world we would be 10 years behind where we are right now.

It's a well known fact that there are major benefits to buying one PC over another.

The differences between manufacturers are price, speed, but most of all the lack of proprietary software.

I'd buy a $1500 Dell over a $1200 Compaq or HP just to avoid their bullshit operating system and hardware mods.

I think most people know the best PC solution is to buy the decent parts independent of one another and put it together yourself.

With Mac's if you can call it over PC, the factor would be that it comes out of the same building, software and hardware so their package will be better meshed (kinda why I don't mind Dell).

Macs are better IN MY OPINION. The software is smooth, easy to use, and eye pleasing... Virus' are low, because if the image above is true, than because nobody gives a shit, which makes me want to use Mac even more, but to be perfectly honest, I haven't used a virus or spyware program in 3 years, because I know how to keep my system clean.

I like Macs because of the hardware restrictions and how the OS works with the hardware... I'd rather pay $1500 for a laptop that will run smooth and do what I need, than pay $800 for a laptop that's gonna give me tons of problems and cause a lot of headaches.

I have an iBook with 64mb of RAM, barely anything to do... but wanna know what? It runs smoother then the Dell I'm running now with 1gb of RAM.. Why? BECAUSE THE HARDWARE IS VERY COMPATIBLE.
