Agree with you 100% here! I am constantly amazed at how some people don't even make a basic attempt to understand the world around them. They bash others for ignorance and are guilty of stupidity. Ignorance is curable, stupidity is forever. At least the ignorant are blissful, though. These are the same people who think there are only major religions and classify anyone who doesn't fit their mold pagan and then associate it all with Wicca, which they all know, of course is "devil worship", lol.
All this shit going on the world is almost too much to comprehend sometimes without looking at the basic mindset of those who you consider ignorant. These are some strange times we are living in and I can't get into kind of fundamentalist mindset, I try to make at least an attempt to understand so I can deal with it logically and not reactionally. I grew up in church every Sunday and I read the bible, but it never meant much to me except as a historical record that often contradicted itself. My bible days are over.
That being said, I've been studying for years the holy books of other religions major and minor. The most interesting one I've read is Enoch, BTW. My reasons are surely different than most because I refuse to believe in the inferiority of all women. I will not subscribe to the belief that I'm nothing that classic Christianity teaches. It sparked my search, much to the chagrin of my mom who thought she was nothing without a man and tried to teach me the same thing, that all I could aspire to was to be a wife and mother and go to church every Sunday.
I'm not sure yet what exactly I do believe, but I have a general idea, lol. But I do know that these are some mighty strange days we are living in, but the end times, lol, I don't think so! (If you're from the south and you go out in public at all, you will hear the phrase "you know we're a livin' in the end times" at some point!)
