Best countries for Americans to move to??

1. Where is it the easiest to move to based on the legalities and language barriers?

2. Where is it the easiest to obtain permanent residence after X amount of time living there? (Also concerned about medical insurance, educational benefits for children, etc.)

3. What issues would I need to worry about in regards to working? Options include: working for a US-based company, working for a non-US based company, or self-employment.

4. What are the best places to raise children?

5. What are the best places to be in the adult industry?

6. Best places considering cost versus standard of living?

7. Other things to consider?

America?

jk.

Well, Asia is not going to be easy on the language end and you probably don't want to raise your kids around whores either. Our industry is also illegal in just about every asian country.

Europe is a mess and you may as well stay in the USA.

Africa, forget it.

South America... ehhhhh. Argentina is nice but the rest I don't know about raising kids in.

Central America, try Panama or Costa Rica.

So my answer is Panama or Costa Rica.

One bit of advice I will give you is that you will spend MUCH MORE than you think you're gonna spend. I would add 20% to whatever you think you will spend until you are rooted in and know the system. Getting everything in order is always the expensive part of living abroad.

It depends what kind of "American" you are too...I live abroad, and there's a huge difference between those that can do it, and those that can't.

<mini rant>I HATE it when Americans move abroad and then complain all day long about how the place sucks and in America they do this, that and so on (or anyone, Euros, whatever, that moves to another country and does that). I poke fun from time to time, but if you're THAT miserable, LEAVE! </the end!>

p.s. I live in Panama, so feel free to email me if you have specific questions.

Oh no, I expect it to be totally different and to definitely have a learning curve. I just want to know my options.

I'm into a simpler way of life: get my work done, hang out with the family, go for a jog, have friends over, RELAX. People here are (in general) so uptight and focused on collecting more than they really need. It's boring and I think it's a terrible example for my children. I also think there's a lot of value to exposing ourselves to different people and different cultures as much as possible.

I know some people in Panama... seemed a little scary for the raising of kids though. I'll hit some of those peeps up for input. Thanks for your feedback!

That is definitely an option. What parts are best for non-French speakers who hate cold weather?

Some things will be simpler while the "simple" things in the States will be "not so simple."

Generally, in "second / third world" countries, which are the ones you'll probably be looking at, stuff that should be easy (i.e. paying your bills, going to the bank, getting a straight answer from an employee at the supermarket, etc.) tend to be complicated.

However, I 100% agree that once you're past the learning curve, you'll never look back!
