How do you people with kids find time to post on GFY?

With this weeks doctor visits, running to store for weird food cravings/supplies/food/vitamins for my wife, dealing with all kinds of preparations and I havent been on gfy much the last few days.

How do you guys with kids ever find the time lol i am in only the first stages of taking care of my wife, and its definitely going to get more time consuming as we go forward.

i think ill be around less and less it seems, had to take a day off this week already and it seems my gfy time will be reduced much much more.

yesterday, I even took a "daytime nap" and i havent done that in ages.

After the child is born I guess i will be around even less

lots to do, but so far it is very, very exciting time of my life.

Congrats and yeah it does not get any easier. Wait till that little bugger starts to walk and then talk and then ask " whats that ? " Time to make sure the lock on the office door works.

lol first thing I did when moved in was replace my office door with brand new keyed locking door instead of normal "bedroom" style doorknob heheh

had that one covered before anything to do with pregnancy. everyone should.

Well, a baby's first few months consist of eating, pooping and sleeping... not necessarily in that order. It's nature's way of giving the parents some time to get used to having a baby as much as it is for the baby to grow.

Then after that time is pretty strained but the baby still does a lot of napping.

Then you are consumed with baby time as the baby hands you everything, needs everything, teeths quite painfully, gets sick often (if in daycare) and so on.

But then the baby moves on to self play and self soothing and learning to get along while you sit with the laptop.

It's a weird cycle but it doesn't have to be overwhelming. Just manage your time and you'll manage.

You are just adjusting to the first rush of changes. Everything will settle down as you get into the groove. You will suprised how much it will all become second nature and you will be able to get back into a routine that will allow for other activities that aren't completely child related.

Hope your wife is still doing well with her pregnancy.

well we are both excited and the experience will most likely be much more rewarding than those who have to go back to a day job after their kid is born. We all know the story of the dads who see their kid born on lunch break then drive back to work.

For us at least both being work-from-home webmasters will give us the chance to spend much more time with our child as it develops and we are looking forward to that.

The luxury of working from home has already paid off as Ive gotten to be with her every step of the way, and will be here every day the child exists and not stuck at some 8-9 hour a day wage slave position.

we've worked hard to get here and this experience will be great.

we bought a house to start family and thats what we doing.

neither of us have to go to some day job and deal with the circumstances of that type of lifestyle while trying to raise a kid or at least nurture one through its first years...

this is what I am assuming, but since I am new to this, just taking it as it comes

Hope your wife is still doing well with her pregnancy.
She is doing fine, see post above, her main thing is "I dont know how women who have to go to day job can do it" lol she has family who she knows worked through pregnancy and even the slight nausea shes had is enough to make her not want to do much.

shes just glad to be able to relax and take it easy and I plan on making it as easy as I can for her during this.

Yup, I work from home and my wife doesn't have to work so she's a stay at home mom.
So we can give our boys all the attention in the world while still finding time for ourselves, and my work.

I think that is what's lost in today's world... families have forgotten how to be families.
Today, children are raised by daycare workers, baby sitters and television because their parents are always working or trying to find time to do anything for themselves.

We still get our boys out to playgroups to socialize but I refuse to let anyone else raise them just so that we can make more money.

Congrats Fletch!! I had no idea!

For those that say it gets easy after they are born, you must be on crack. Not trying to scare you fletch, but hold on to your hats man. The first year to 18 months was *really* rough on us. And then when #2 comes along, holy shit.

Its all good now, but wow.

Despite the stresses, its great, really. So, just enjoy!

I have four kids, Twins ages 7 (boy and girl) a 4 yr old girl and 18month old boy, pretty much only time I get to do anything is when there sleeping so I mainly work nights.

                              It's hard but wouldn't change a thing....

Don't make it out to be more than it is. Billions of people have had babies and have managed to maintain their work and lives.

My munchkin is sitting here in my lap while I type this.

It's not like it's rocket science or anything.

                                Spend you some brain.

Yah it's a bitch. My 16 month old daughter doesnt like to see me on the puter for long periods of time. She likes to play.

So you have to find time while the kid is sleeping, playing with toys or eating.

The juggling of time online and "family time" is a bitch to say the least. I found when both my girls were at home I was frustrated most of the time. I'd just start to get something done and I had to change diapers/movies/feed them/etc.

Looking back it still was the best thing I did since both kids saw me alot and we still did lots of things together.

Now one is in school and the other we put in daycare. We have three bedrooms and my office was taken over by one of the girls so I ended up getting and office. My oldest had ways of walking in each time I was working and we decided it was not worth the issues of having them stumble in on something they have no business seeing. Sure.........put a lock on the door sounds great, but I didn't feel right about shutting them out like that.

Each case if different of course. Once the child is born you'll adapt one way or another very quickly. It's human nature. The main thing is patience..............and alot of it.

as a father of 5, I have two words: time management
I'm fortunate enough to have kids that are old enough to watch the younger ones.
They are all coming back to live with me next school year, so there will be a lot of juggling between the office, errands, kids, etc. I had to decide on a nanny vs. an assistant and an assistant is cheaper, hehe

Absolutely. No point in having kids if you can't put them to work.
