Awwww, he's a handsome pup, he'll heal up quick, he's still a puppy so he's strong and he's got a good momma. Good Luck!

I had a thought - change the tube for a whoopie cushion - that should provide hours of entertainment.

Seriously, glad that you have so much love for him and I can see already that he is returning it. Thanks for sharing the story - best of luck and keep us updated

cherrylula 03-28-2009 06:21 PM

he is so handsome... get well soon Lars!

justinsain 03-28-2009 06:26 PM

I have to say your story made me smile

I believe that there is a good dog inside every dog and it's up to the owner to cultivate that. I've seen many mismatches in my time and it makes me happy to hear how a dog that got off to rough start can somehow cross paths with it's perfect owner. For him to find just the right person with the mind and means to give him the best of care, through the good times and bad, is nothing short of remarkable.

I wish you and Lars many years of fun as he rewards you for all the TLC :thumbsup

Thank you very much and I agree. When I went to meet him and the lady said he had been in doggie jail for 6 months because they couldn't find him a good home due to biting, I couldn't believe. My heart broke. He is so handsome and perfect and such a happy playful dog, he just needed someone who could handle such a big powerful dog. I grew up with a big boy like him so I knew how to be a pack leader, haha. He snipped at me once when I first met him, and to me that meant powerful and smart just young and needs some training so I took him home and from the moment I got him in the truck he was like, "Hi Mommie, where are we going." We instantly bonded. I ran him on the beach, he came when I called him. It was a true perfect match. Never had a problem with him.

I hope to have many years with him, at least 15. I can't imagine losing him and I have only had him for 4 months. He loves to go for bike rides. He runs I ride, and that fucker runs at 15 MPH for over a mile. He loves it. Just haulin' ass. I do it every day twice a day and that release of energy keeps him in shape and well behaved. I am very blessed!!!

Oh Loryn, I'm so sorry you and your pup are going through this! He's Beautiful!! My German Shepard, named Herb, was my top dog for 14 years - he passed a year ago and I'm still not over it and am not sure I ever will be. He was definitely one of the family. I've got a new German Shep pup that I rescued, he's 11 weeks old now and I'm so in love with him.

My heart goes out to you and your Lars. Sending you both much love grl!!

Thank you so much!!! I am very happy you rescued another pup. A lot of people wait because of the loss of their baby, and I always think about all the dogs out there that don't have a Mommie and/or Daddie. I just know that I will always have room for two puppies so if one goes, I will of course lay in bed for a month and cry, but I will go out and save another puppy in the name of the baby that passed. I know that both my babies are very happy because someone rescued them so they would want me to save another puppy from hell and give them the greatest life possible.

The female German Shepherd I rescued last year is 9 years old. They told me she was 5, which I didn't care what her age was I would have saved her anyway, but for someone to have that baby for 8 years and then give her away is just horrible. I can't imagine how sad that feeling has to be to her. But I know her life now is better than her life every was before. She has two big doggie beds, she has medicine for her hips, she goes for doggie rides every day, and gets to run and play without a leash at least 4 times a week. I baby her and love her so much. And now she has a brother who protects her and has helped her come out of her shell, which is more than she ever has before. Good for you for saving another puppy. You have a heart of gold!!!

Loryn, thank you for sharing & I completely agree...how someone can give up their 5 yr old pup, I'll never understand. You as well truly have a heart of gold!!

I had an Australian Sheppard that I rescued from Hurricane Katrina; he was three years old when he was stuck in the storm and he just passed away last year too (it was a rough year losing both babies!). He was healthy for years and got sick quickly at the end. It turned out that he had bone cancer, they think it was caused from him living on the contaminated water in the streets after the disaster. But he was a pistol and a sweetie and the strongest dog I have ever met.

Here's the newest little rescue guy that's got my heart. I mess around in real estate a bit and found him locked up in the backyard of a foreclosed house with four of his brothers and sisters; no food or water for them, and they were barely weaned. GRRRR! Fucking pisses me off! I took them all in, got them their shots and found good homes for four of the pups; but this last one is already home - he is not going anywhere!

I took these tonight, so pardon the darkness of the pics?

And here he is being a good boy pee-peeing outside. LOL

Love & Hugs to you and your boys!! Wishing Lars a quick recovery too! Please do let us know what his test results determine.

Exactly my thoughts. Loryn, you are a special gal and the work and love you share and dedicate to ALL our animal friends is always an inspiration to me.

Hope your dog ends up being just fine as I'm sure he will :thumbsup

A dog is truly a man's best friend.

If you don't believe it, just try this experiment.

Put your dog and your spouse in the trunk of the car for an hour.

When you open the trunk, who is really happy to see you????????

Have a kick ass day!!! :thumbsup:thumbsup

Click here for some cool dog pics

awww cool dog loryn like you said he's young he'll probably be just fine. :thumbsup

CDSmith 03-31-2009 09:49 PM

With the level of care you're giving Lars I don't see how any dog wouldn't get better. That dog from what I know of it has had a pretty tough go of it in his early years. It's great to see him being that loved and cared for now.

Too bad more pet owners don't feel as much for their pets as you do.

In looking over those pics I just want to cook Lars a great big steak, looks like he's being quite a trooper about this whole ordeal.
