I rent an appartment which I converted to an office....
This means I have a fully equiped kitchen, bathroom with tub,
the 2 bedrooms I use as office space, a living room to relax
including big screen TV and DvD player.

In my office I have ocean view....downstairs we have a huge
community pool with a very nice garden with tropical
plants/flowers and lots of palm trees. The appartment is on
a mountain so it has very spacious views.

Rent: $500 per month excluding bills and 512Kbit/sec ADSL

do you have motivational posters or plants or stuff like that, or is it strictly cables, routers, and all business?

oh also.... any windows or extra rooms within the room like a kitchenette or bathroom or bar or sound booth or anything? (I've seen offices with all of these things believe it or not)

(I'm just curious about something)

pool table, dart board, soda machines, and leather sofas,
20 or so offices, dinnig room, marketing room, streaming room, oh.. and a couple computers too....

LunaC 11-26-2002 01:05 PM

I work at home, but my essential non-essentials are: teapot and teacup, music cds and a lit candle.

On the walls I have some tasteful framed b/w nudes of men and women.

Oh yeah, almost forgot the most important part: three different computer chairs: one straight back chair, one computer stool and one more comfy chair. I switch them out (wireless keyboard and mouse help) whenever I start to get stiff from sitting so long so that I don't have to actually take a break. How addicted is that? :1orglaugh

Ah cool, I lived around those parts for a few years, before moving to Puerto Banus, Marbella. Ciudad Quesada is nice, definitely the nicest place to live around those parts.

Elche? You got a spanish gf?

I basically have nothing here but the essentials and a ton of equipment. Like my home, the walls are bare but I think the architecture makes up for it a bit. Eventually I'd like to add a lounge area at the front of the office, which is now occupied by Sun boxes and heaps of direct marketing materials.

Nice Office Frank, we're actually looking for a place like that. Brick walls, loft type of place. Where are you anyways?

well, see..... that's kinda why I was curious.... wondering how people feel about that kinda stuff in the officeplace....

does it help to have that kinda stuff around so it's not so... stark I guess, for lack of a better word right now? Can there be too much of it? or is it better to just strip it down to bare essentials and leave that kinda stuff out completely?

I'm undecided either way.... I kinda like having extra non essential stuff around to lighten things up a little.... but

ahhh fuck, I don't know.

I think a window is a big help though.... can't imagine being in a room all day with no freaking windows.

I hate those cheesy motivational posters too.... but doesn't have to be specifically those types.... could be any kind of large prints, paintings, posters, etc.... or is just bare walls better?

You know, it depends on each person. Myself, I like feeling very comfortable in my office space. I bring in a bunch of crap. Being that I used to work in the video game industry, I have a lot of little things relating to video games and stuff. Just little toys and stuff. I'm kinda debating to bring in a PS2 or an XBox with a small 14" or 20" TV. More for a lunch thing, and I find that it helps me break out a bit when doing those long nights. Take a breather, play a little DOA3 on the XBox, then get back to work with the MP3s playing in the background. Helps me work for longer periods. Doesn't feel like I'm missing much "socially".

My favorite movie is Scarface so I've got a large poster of Al Pacino standing around with a gun to motivate me.

I also got a stack of games lying around, as well as my work material (marketing books, articles, etc that I use as reference material).. I seriously need plants though, this place is too static right now

I also got a big fridge near my desk, gotta keep workin' without having to run down anytime I want a bite or drink

No no spanish girlfriend but I don't like to live amongst all the
tourists anymore....all the urbanisations are nice.....if you stay
for 2 weeks....not for permanent residence. Quesada is like the
living in the UK...except here is no rain....I wouldn't want to live
there....I don't have anything against brits.....but if I wanted to
live with Brits I would have moved to the UK....:)

Elche is a very nice city and the best houses are around Elche
There is a lot to do, perfect situated from airport/highway and
just a very beautiful environment.

I don't care if I have to drive 10 minutes to get to the beach
the "Houses" near the coast are nothing but huge holiday resorts
way too expensive, shit houses, and no space at all......

Elche is the place to be......I'm looking forward to move.....

I agree. It's fun in the summer for a couple weeks, but thats it.

I was up in Torrevieja like 6 months ago, man that place is such a fucking shithole. Crime has gone through the roof, its never been a good place I think, but it has REALLY changed for the worse in the last 3-4 years.

You ever been in Marbella/Puerto Banus?

that area also....
