YouTube will block music videos in U.K.

YouTube, which is owned by Mountain View-based Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG), said the Performing Rights Society for Music asked for too much money in licensing fees, more than YouTube was ready to pay.

I heard that and I know somebody that works for the music rights people and she thinks they will come to an agreement at some point in the not too distant future.

But seriously, they'll work it out. It's free publicity, and eventually people WILL buy the CD or download the music (for free or not) so it's all just a money game. Music companies don't see how to monetize it yet.

If I would be running a record label, I would friggin EMBRACE youtube and even throw money at them to get my shit out there.

How about Youtube accepting music video uploads from record companies only, and implement links around and IN the damn video? "download now" "buy now" and so on....

That's weird, because a lot of the time when I see music videos on YouTube, they're directly placed there by Sony, Warner etc...
