How do I get rid of these FUCKING COCKROACHES!?

I'm in this old ass basement suite and I'm experiencing a cockroach infestation for the first time in my life. I always thought we didn't have them in Vancouver. Little 1/2 inch brown fuckers. They <3 my coffee.

How do I get rid of the fucks? I keep the counters clean but they still come around.

The coffee + jar trap isn't working for me. What does?

Bay leaves?

Baking soda?

Just get the fucking exterminator in already?

I had a nice clean condo once in Buena Park. It was never dirty, we never left food out. But the neighbors did. That led hundreds of the fucks through our house as a bi product. You need to exterminate them - nothing you do otherwise will help. You could disinfect daily and have the shits scurrying everywhere.

Got them once after returning a TV to circuit city for repairs - it came back with critters. I waged full on assault with them and eventually won the war without a bug guy who wanted a year long contract.

1. Boric acid along any counters, pipes etc.
2. Roach gel (its a poison that they eat and it like sterilizes them or something) check poison area's for it. Many varieties. Add lines of this to corners, seems, etc. where you seen activity.
3. Prior to above action get a few (like twice as many as listed on can) roach/bug bombs. Remove your food and open everything up. Then let them rip and bomb the place. Make sure you vacuum up everything and then wash everything - including vacuum after your done with it.

When I first moved to AZ I had em in a shitty apt... spray your counters and around trash cans with straight rubbing alcohol before bed. Keep everything sterile clean and they might go away... but yeah, dirty neighbors will keep em around

There is a product that is now illegal in the US called Baygon.

It comes in a spray can and will keep killing cockroaches dead for months.

You have to be careful with it around pets though

Unless that's the case with you, ie you know they just got in there, you can't get rid of them without a series of full on structural exterminations - I mean the whole building, not just around your pad. Then it usually needs to be done again a few times...

I did catch them before a full on roach explosion where they were deep in the walls. Maybe a few colonies of a couple thousand each by the time I launched my war. It is fucking crazy how they can go from 1-2 roaches to thousands of them in a matter of a few weeks.


I did loose a bunch of electronics as a collaterial damage - fuckers ate the shit and ruined parts of it. They also killed my oven and my microwave along with about 80 books.

This product Bengal is one that they used in New Orleans, and I've seen cockroaches walk across a line of it and spit their guts out before they hit the middle of the rooms. It works for months, and when/if other cockroaches eat the dead, it kills them too.

I had a lot of low rent housing in the 90's. we could never even make a dent until this stuff came out. Your method above is extreme but effective.

I know it was extreme but fuck man I have seen where they had to tear down places that became to infected.

I did not mention that I also steam blasted everything while cleaning up as I figured that would of been seen as way extreme. Yet I did get a pressure wand steamer and blasted every crack and crevice I could find.

If your coffee maker is more than a jar with a handle - ie has anyplace they can get into or hide. Odds are it is already infested itself.

BTW you will have a hard time moving while your shit is infested unless your willing to leave it all behind.

I had this problem once before when a relative came to crash with me and brought roaches in her boxed up crap. I tried all the over-the-counter methods and had an exterminator come for 6 months... still saw roaches. Finally I cracked and brought in the more expensive exterminator and after one visit they were gone for good. He said you have to use multiple methods because some are immune to certain poisons. He used gels, powders, sprays, and left out those little roach hotel things. I imagine that living in an apartment building you would have to keep them coming regularly since your neighbors probably won't be exterminating.

Got rid of them fast and never had them again after that. Roach bait gel or something like that, came in little discs.

It looks like peanut butter, right? I put dabs of that anywhere I thought roaches would hang out, especially in crevices and corners.

The owner just tossed some of that boric acid powder under the sink and thought that would do the job. It didn't.

It took me several days of spraying Raid and smearing that poison gel all over the place to get rid of them.

Sounds like you need to move. Exterminators only kill whats in your place. As long as other apartments have them around you, you'll be living with them.

Try cockroach gel drops. Roaches can't resist them and they die very quickly. Bayer makes a version of these.

If that's unavailable to you, try borax chalk. Another name for this is "Chinese chalk" Use it to outline the area you want to protect. When roaches cross it their skin starts to burn.
