Help with my movie galleries, please.

Its me again

Strange happenings in the past couple days. 2 large AVS sponsors have been refusing my AVS sites because the movies dont load for them. Also its happened with Worldsex as well.

The AVS reviewers tell me the movies dont load and they get this message

"Error: MPEG by Bitcasting: File Format cannot find MPEG file header. This may not be an MPEG file."

I save the movies as .mpg, what gives guys?

Could it be they have quicktime or some other proggy as default, but should'nt the movie still work?

thx peeps,
Ray

Are you using a fancy codec to encode them?

Codec? what? Im new at movies

Come to think of it, could it be because I use windows movie maker to cut up the videos. It saves them as windows movies, and from there I rename them .mpg. Could damn well be the reason, could'nt it?

Hi again,

Ok , I baught video edit magic. Pretty nifty tool, buuut...it wants to save the movies as .avi files. In this case, can I rename them to .mpg or .mpeg instead of .avi when saving??

What is .avi anyway, can that file be played by differnt players (wmp, real player, etc.)??

1000 thx,
Ray

If you're using Windows Movie Maker, save them as .wmv instead of .mpg

Ray...

You can't just change file extensions and expect the files to work. Your options are...:

1. If you want the files you post to be .mpg's and you still want to use Windows Movie Maker to break them up, you've got to get software that converts .wmv (Windows Media) files to .mpg files.

2. Purchase software that allows you to break up movies AND save them as .mpg's.

3. Since you've already bought software that makes .avi files, just post those.

4.

Also, you mentioned that you're new and that you don't use codecs. I don't know much about the movie side of things, but I know enough to tell you that if you're not compressing your movies, your gonna get raped by bandwidth costs.

Good luck,
