Film - Requiem for a Dream

Watched this over the weekend. It got great reviews however in found it boring. It's sort of like train spotting just way slower. Some people may find it interesting but not me.

Plot
----
Requiem for a Dream is a movie about several people whose lives change dramatically because of their particular addictions. Harry (Jared Leto) and Tyrone (Marlon Wayans) are two friends who live in a big city. They decide to make money by reselling heroin on the street so that they can get away from their dead-end lives. Eventually, they make a fair amount of money. They talk about buying a large amount of extremely pure heroin so that they can make the money they feel they need to "make it".

This is one of my all time favorite movies. Love the story, and I love the musical score. The book was written by Hubert Selby in 1978. I read one of his earlier books, "Last Exit to Brooklyn" and it is pretty good. It's also a very dark story about a group of people rotting away in a part of the city that is rotten from within. Very unorthodox way of writing, no periods or commas or capital letters, I think. This man was obviously a alcholic and heavy drug user.

But the movie is really good. It's too much for some people, but it's one of the best drug movies I'v ever seen. Much better than Trainspotting in terms of reality and crudeness.

I thought it was amazing...
The way they edited the movie...!! Wicked...!!
And not to mention the part of the mother...
She won an oscar for her part in the movie, witch i think was well deserved...

But if you want to see a quicker movie with more action in it, you migth wanna watch 'Crank" with jason Statham...

I also thought it was pretty decent. I guess if you're just looking at it from a pure entertainment standpoint it doesn't really have any highs to ballance out the lows.

Have you seen Basketball Diaries? I loved that one, but I'm also a huge Jim Carroll fan so that might color my opinion.

I liked it when I saw it. I thought the whole pupil dilating thing was a neat trick at the time. The whole problem with the domestic movie industry is that there are not more directors like Darren Aronofsky who are given the opportunity to take chances and not make the Hollywood cliche movie. He only got that because he financed the movie PI on his CC.

Everyone thinks the movie is so dark and depressing but I have come to the conclusion that it is one of the best dark comedies of all time. Great movie. "Spun" is also a great movie - Mickey Rourke is genius in that movie.

Actually she was only nominated but lost the Oscar to horseface assfuck Julia Roberts...biggest injustice in Oscar history, IMHO

Her scene about be a lonely old woman and and her attempts to just fit into that red dress....truly amazing acting and one of the few times I ever teared up in a movie.

SPUN is indeed a faster, less dark movie. Very entertaining.
