How much do the fat guys walking around the strip club make?

In Indianapolis it is standard protocol to have 8 fat men with white shirts sloppily tucked in running around the strip club. They do things like take the money at the door, walk around the floor looking around, interrupt lap dances to remind you that feeling on boobs is against the rules, make sure no one gets head in the champagne room, etc. How much do these fat guys get paid? It seems like it has to be an awfully depressing experience. Dreadful hours, endless smoke, and lots of dumb people (customers and coworkers). Sadly, they probably get paid pretty poorly too.

If memory serves... Dancers has fewer of these fat guys despite having more customers than most of the strip clubs in Indianapolis. I think PT's and Red Garter has the most of these guys but I didn't have anyone in mind.

At the Deja Vu we owned in Port Huron, MI. the bouncer got $7 an hour and the girls did tip him out, but that was a small club and he went out of his way for them. At most clubs the girls are required to only tip out the DJ's, and most don't even do that. I can't tell you how many times I saw a girl have a big night, and the DJ got maybe $5 from her, and the bouncer nothing. Dancers do not like to tip out.

At the mainstream club in Memphis we paid the bouncers $10 per hour, and the head of security was on a salary. He did ok for himself, but by no means was he rich from bouncing.

I do wonder what Vegas guys are making at the mainstream clubs, though. I always used to tip the doorman to get past the line, and if the line was big you would usually have to give them $20 a person or more that you were taking in, and that was before paying the cover. I can also remember when Rain first opened in the Palms, I had a group that rented one of those VIP booths with the waterbed seats, and the security guy was awesome. He came around a bunch of times to check on us, and even offered to round up some girls to bring over for some of the guys in the group. At the end of the night we tipped him $100. That probably is out of the norm, but I'm sure it happens more than we think...

Like I said doorman is a different story and most clubs today the large ones will fire a door guy the moment they know he took money to let someone in, (at least in NYC or LA) the doorman is suppose to push you to buy bottles or to push you away if he detects trouble and obviously make good judgments on who to let in, they decide based on looks, the girl or girls you are with etc.

The guys standing next to the door guy, just the muscle should someone start shit outside sometimes get tips, these guys have little say on who gets in and who dont.

Floor security almost never gets tips.

A good documentary on club security is a movie called "bounce behind the velvet rope" played on showtime and also avilable on DVD, the lead guy in that movie was killed a few years ago by one of the bouncers he had working for him.

With the exception of a couple incidents, we never really had problems at our strip clubs. The mainstream club in Memphis was geared towards an older, more affluent clientele, but we had to add different types of nights to bring in customers every night of the week, and the only time we had problems was on hip hop night, which we eventually had to discontinue. Memphis is full of clubs that had a very robust business, ending up having a few shootings at hip hop night, and then became ghost towns. We didn't want that to happen so we canned them.

The problems were always the porn stores. Most of them were located in shitty areas next to low income housing projects, and on top of the customers you always had to deal with prostitutes, pimps, drug dealers, and the homeless from the projects. We ended up having to have 24 hour armed security at most of our stores so the customers, and employees, would feel safe. One day when I finish writing my book I have no doubt it will be a best seller due to some of the crazy shit I have seen over the years...

When I worked in NY the club owner paid me I got nothing from the girls. Now here in atl its tip out. The clubs I worked at were like cheers with tits regular bars 4 to 6 girls a night worked. But here in atl they got 30 to I heard sometimes up to 70 girls on a shift. So if you are getting 3-4 bucks a head not bad for a nights work.

Here in Ohio at the local club, the owner Nick has all his childhood buddies (the goonies, i like to call them) working as bouncers. Its a bad business model. They chase off the customers they dont know, and try to keep the place a hangout for all their friends. They were cool with us until they found out what we do, now when anyone of us goes in we get the mean looks from all the "bouncers" but unless we strike up a conversation with any of the girls they leave us alone. Any time we do have a conversation with any of the girls that goes over 2 minutes, their all over it, yelling at her to either make a buck right now, or move on.
