I hope no one. It's a nice sentiment and all, but seriously. The whole burial process is so stupid, especially when you consider the price tag involved.
I'd almost rather die out at sea or lost somewhere so there's no burial or cremation costs... just gather have some finger sandwiches, talk about how goofy I am and call it a day.
Dying has become a burden on the living. It used to mean something... now it's just a commercial business. Like love. It used to mean something. Now it's a February holiday for florists, card makers and chocolate companies.Comment

I for one would much rather focus on enjoying a quality life with family and friends and experience all I can with the joy of being alive and thankful for this one time opportunity on earth.
Our time here is too short to dwell on trivial things such as whom will show on the garden lawn when we're gone, for it is not the number present that dictates your greatness, but how you affected the lives of others while you were alive.Comment

Sometimes at family gatherings I will look at the younger people and think about how they will one day see me laying dead in a coffin.
I also think about what will happen to my body. If it is sudden, who will find me? Will an autopsy be required? I watched an autopsy video on YouTube yesterday and there was no respect for the dead. They were ripping through her body like they were slaughtering cattle, throwing body parts around.Comment

agree with you totally, I don't want to even have one, and the idea of forcing people that are really in a state of grief to hang out in public with other people and totally disrupt their lives to a public display of basking in grief sucks as well, I would think the healthiest thing is to try to maintain the day to day life as much as possible without adding to the already disrupting emotion of it all

I thought about it especially after just dealing with it with my dad. About 90 people showed up for him. As for me, all my relatives are older so unless I die young they will all be dead. I dont work for a company so I dont have co workers, I dont have kids. So I figure my wife and my younger bro and sis and their spouses and kids and a few friends.So unless something changes it will be a very small group.Comment

more and more people are requesting no funeral, no service, nothing at all - i know two people who died in the last month, both guys in their 40's, died much too soon - neither had any burial service or anything at all. just gone - cremated - and that was that.I moved my sites to Vacares Hosting. Yeah, the price now just to bury someone is ridiculous. It's bad enough for the family that someone has died, but then the family have another huge worry about the cost they now have to lay the person to rest. It's not right.
I'd rather go quietly, with minimum fuss, cost, and let people move on with their lives...
