I haven't read it nor have I seen the movie yet ( I will when it comes out on DVD), but just what I have seen in other shows and documentaries I know I have no desire to ever go to India. To me it looks like a dirty, overcrowded shit hole.

That's the one. i saw it in the airport and thought it might be better then seeing the movie. Normally the case. And it is a great book just not a glowing account of India.

Edit - BTW the book is now called Slumdog Millionaire with the other title mentioned.

Great flick, just watched it this weekend! To me it shows that some people are good regardless of the amount of crap they've been through in their lives.

They must have changed the movie. In the book he tries to kill two people and he steals from his employer. Granted everyone is doing the same stuff but that explains my first post.

Movie is great. Maybe not the exact same as the book, but when are movies exact replicas of the original material?

You should read "Shantaram".. great read - takes place mostly in India as well.

I lived in Singapore for some time and had the misfortune of having to work directly with some Indians and have to say I did not meet a single one I would like to again see in the future. They are super superficial people that think that hey are defined by what they have. I am not a fan what so ever of them and would just rather keep from around them in all aspects.
