Good luck man I quit cold turkey about 8 years ago. 2 packs a day to none. I've had one ciggy in that time.

it's all in your head - no drugs needed. i quit years ago from one day to the other from 30 cigs a day and never looked back. first 2-3 days are rough because of the physical withdrawal, after that it's not that difficult anymore if you don't WANT to smoke.

First, my comment was not directed towards you (not sure why you thought it was) but hey...that was a very witty comeback. :thumbsup

I guess smoking kills you and stuff, but in our collective rush to condemn let us not lose sight of the fact that supercool and fashionable and basically hot ticket to endless sex with grade A babes.

I really want to quit but haven't been able to. I'm gonna try chewing tobacco. At least that won't be so hard on my lungs. I can't run or do shit anymore.

When you smoke it constricts your arteries, so blood cant get thorough.
So he was telling me he was at Mass General and the doctor was going up his body with a wire (or whatever) they put in his leg that went up to his heart to try and open his arteries up more, WHILE HE WAS AWAKE. He said he felt like his chest was going to burst. He said the whole ordeal was very painful, from the heart attack to the medical work done.

He said he threw the fucking cigarettes out. He's had health scares and gone to Mass General from smoking before, I think he has a minor stroke once, but this time he's really lucky to be alive.

Thats exactly what I had done. One part where they were nuking the blockage felt like they were microwaving it. Felt literally hot inside. But for the most part it was endurable. It reminded me of the 70's where you'd fish a coathanger into your car door window to try and unlock it, lol. Except with freshly shaved pubes on the right side :1orglaugh

The heart attack on the other hand.. real pain. Like I was breathing toxic fumes, or like my chest was in a vice. I'd smoked for about 30 years. You can't ever quit fast enough, and cant ever be too old or busy to work out a little.

While the latter should be the goal, he should definitely be saying the former each day.

One day at a time is really the only way to get through the beginning. Thinking about the rest of your life without your little friends can be overwhelming and make you want to light up.

This is the only site out there with 100% truths about smoking.
Good luck.

Great site. I read that ebook several times when I was quitting.

I'm taking it one day at a time right now and so far have not cheated once. I keep telling myself "I can beat these little bastards" and you can too...

Good luck with that.
I quit a few times with chantix but had to stop because of the side effects (depression) and unfortunately always went back to smoking after I stopped taking the chantix.
When it was all said and done I just had to quit cold turkey to stay off of them for good.

However, I do know of several people who used chantix and have been off of smokes for a year or longer. So again, good luck with that. :thumbsup
