i don't get it - GFY wouldn't lose one advertiser here if it got rid of the contests, yet they keep them. they wouldn't lose any webmasters, be they lurkers or posters. i've peeked in on one contest thread years ago to see what goes on in them and that was enough for me.

doesn't affect me much but the contest threads do junk up the front page of this forum.

i thought Eric made new strict rules about contests - i thought those went into immediate effect.

the sooner they get rid of contests entirely the better, they make the forum look like crap and kind of ruin the "atmosphere" of the front page making one lose interest and just close gfy and go hang out somewhere else instead :2 cents:

Eric said all contest threads were gonna be closed on March 1st and from then on, the new rules are in effect.

Let's see how it goes.

contests result in less pageviews when real forum participants lose interest and go elsewhere due to the lame clutter
