DreamWorks 4th-qtr profit falls as revenue drops 31 percent

NEW YORK (AP) -- DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc. says its fourth-quarter profit fell as revenue dropped 31 percent.

The Glendale, Calif.-based creator of "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa" said Tuesday that it earned $51.6 million, or 58 cents per share, compared with $94.1 million, or 98 cents per share, in the year-earlier quarter.

The company's revenue fell to $199.8 million from $290.2 million in the year-earlier quarter.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected a profit of 60 cents per share on $232.5 million in revenue.

For the full year, DreamWorks earned $142.5 million, or $1.57 per share, on $650.1 million in revenue. This is lower than the $218.4 million, or $2.17 per share, it earned on $767.2 million in revenue in 2007.
