Do you restart your server(s)

Newbie question I know but do you ever restart your servers if everything is running fine?

Is there a rule of thumb for how often you should do it?

There is no need for restart if everything works fine.

reboots does a server the most harm. Thats when most of the times harddisks fail.

No need to reboot if everything is fine. You may want to look into setting a schedule for maintenance though.

I have no idea why anyone would reboot a linux/unix server that is running fine, it doesn't do anything, if it's windows maybe

Kernel upgrades are generally the only reason I reboot servers, don't trust Ksplice to do it.
