Insurance question
Does anyone that works out of their home have a home business insurance policy? If so, who wrote it for you?
I have State Farm for my homeowners, and I have the maximum business endorsement that I can have with that policy. ($5,000). My inventory is worth more than that, and they do not write business policies for internet based companies.

Yep. I have a rider to my homeowners. I wanna say it was an extra $64 or 100.00 a year?
Rider also includes up to $25,000 to cover all my computer, camera, electronics in home office(s). |

I go through a company called, Michigan Millers. I am not sure if they are Michigan only, as the name would imply, but they have some REALLY nice rates! They beat State Farm's quote for my house by almost $400.00! Most others by $250 or so.
I ended up switching my vehicle to them as well, from State Farm. They were pretty much the same on full coverage for my '05 Escape. But I get the discount for the multiple policies. I had them send me the info on life insurance as well. I just have not gotten around to it. I apparently have to have some kinda medical test for that prior to coverage. I wanted to get around $250,000.00 so that my house, student loans, and everything, is paid off should something happen to me. My sister and niece can have my house and stuff without worry. Unfortunately, they can't do my '08 SeaDoo. So I still have that through Progressive, although they can run/handle it through their agency. So I will switch that to them when I renew in June. When you renew your policies, they automatically 'shop' you as well. So you get the lowest rate before your renewals. Which is a nice bonus, and saves me the hassle. |
