that thing is a fucking boat. I've never understood the need for that much power / handling in a four door car unless it's your only driver - but with a price tag like that it rarely will be.

guess i'm biased though because I've only driven 2 door muscle cars.

sexy looking car though, just not what I'd consider as a purchase.

The BMW M5 is still way better. The high revving V10 is music to my ears. The BMW is lighter, so it's steering isn't numb like the benz and even though they make the same power the BMW out accelerates it. It also has way more presence on the road.

I personally dislike the new E-series headlamps. My uncle has the previous model E500, and I'd take it over the new one.

I've had several Mercedes and BMWs myself and, to be honest, if I were to only be allowed to have only 1 car and had to choose between a BMW and a Mercedes - I would take the Beemer. Over the long run they are much more rugged, last longer and (at least in my opinion) the safer car to be in in case of an accident.


That said, a Mercedes is a better chick magnet. Regarding acceleration - maybe I should upgrade to a S-65 (608 bhp)?

the s63 may have the same engine as the c63, but its nothing like it. the s63 throttle mapping and ECU is definitely NOT designed to drive aggressively; its more of a cruiser with some power for passing; but it is an awesome and comfortable car. i would take one but would still need a sports car.

he is wrong on the acceleration from a stop. the 63 engine will outrun both the m5/m6 from a stop until 120'ish. from there the m5/m6 will start taking the lead all the way to top speed.
the v10 lacks the torque that the 63 engine has to beat the 63 off the line.

the mercedes will also be more comfortable as the bmw is built with a stiffer suspension and more "sporty". the Merc will also have better luxury features then the BMW overall.

I'm both a BMW guy and a Mercedes guy and have owned both, and will continue owning both. They are both good in their own ways and sometimes better than the other in other ways.

Anyone else notice this also? I have BMW M3 convertible but it is close to the time to upgrade. The beemer is great if I wanted to date 15-17 year old boys at the micky d's drive through. Otherwise it has only ever picked up one chick for me.

i agree, mb isn't what it used to be and their trannys are made of glass. i made the mistake of getting their 1st ever 6speed manual back in 02... 12k miles and the tranny went. then i got a ML suv... driveshaft broke at 5k miles. sure its warranty but fuck man... they leave the factory in real shitty condition. lease and dump em before 36k arrives or you'll be sorry
