Sorry I do not run around showing off my portfolio but its rather extensive and most of you would be very surprised at some of my latest works. Basically most of you are clueless and if you got traffic odd's are you have promoted things I have designed because there really are not many programs that are major I have not designed for.

You people take the boards far to seriously and dumb enough to make "Business" decisions over what happens here. Its fucking pathetic.

Friday bump.

I have another potential offer from some good folks in my home state...still, I want as many pans on the fire as possible to find a really great fit...

And I want to thank everyone again for their great encouragement of my work. I have been ill the last few days and the nice words have definitely perked me up :)

Zayne E. 03-23-2009 03:08 PM

I hate bumping my own, old threads but I need a few more pans on the fire. I've had an awesome offer in Seattle and a very good offer in Florida. Unfortunately, I am not keen on relocating to the antidepressant capital of the US (Seattle) and things are moving really slow with the crew in Florida...so I am keeping this thread alive!

I know there is a ton of need for skilled graphics folks like me...I know because I am quite busy working for other design houses. I still prefer a paycheck so I can plan care for my son who has Asperger's Syndrome :)

I much prefer remote but will entertain in-house in a tropical location -- particularly Florida...

Your work is sick your portfolio site is badass.

Platinumpimp 03-23-2009 04:13 PM

Unbelievable, I am at it again. I had a decent enough offer, signed almost a full month ago with a start date of May 4th with a MASSIVE program...and they messaged me today saying they couldn't hold up their end of the bargain, citing "the economy."

So, here we go again. If anyone wants to know what I have been up to lately hit up Sarah at Zuzana Designs. She has been keeping me quite busy, thankfully. Still, I prefer a "job" so I can spend more time with my 6-year old son whom I have custody of. He needs more of me and I am working days that are WAY too long.

I know there is someone out there who can use my skills. Hit me up. I fairly much need a remote position.

Thanks -- again!

Ozarkz 04-15-2009 12:01 PM

That sucks man good luck to you.

They are lucky you don't want to pursue the contract.

It wasn't quite like that. They made a formal offer, I signed my intent. It was for "at will" employment. They - or I - could terminate the arrangement at any time.

And thanks for the well wishes...it is appreciated :)

Meeper 04-15-2009 01:33 PM

Seems like jobs are becoming more and more scarce. Good luck again. Bump.

In many arenas, yes. I have found the web development side MUCH busier since the collapse of the economy. The problem for me is these programs aren't development firms. They have full staffs encompassing all aspects of their businesses. When revenue drops due to changes in consumer interests or ability to spend they have to make cutbacks. It doesn't mean they no longer need creative or development services but it's hard to justify bringing in someone new when they are showing the door to tenured employees.

Thanks, again :)

I've had a few people add me to ICQ since I refreshed this thread...no messages though. Sometimes I don't get them when people are not on my list so if you sent something, please feel free to resend at your convenience :)

I'm always seeing people bitch about designers on GFY. Well here's your chance to do something about it. If you're serious about hiring a good designer who breaks all the negative stereotypes, you need to hit this guy up. :thumbsup

Hit me up on IM

Where are you finding Web development busier. Major programs don't want to start any new project, its all about save money. Just looks at the unemployed software developers.

I'm doing pretty good! Like you, I'm finding that there's still some business to be done around here :winkwink:

Good luck with your search for something full time.

What makes you think the world revolves around porn and the adult Internet?

I wouldn't know about pay scale but in Charlotte there is no shortage of help wanted for LAMP programmers and other programmers so I would doubt the pay is lower than a year ago -- here. The rub is I am a lowly graphics guy with decent programming skills...but programming is not my primary vocation :(

Zayne E. 04-17-2009 01:40 PM

I have a couple more pans on the fire but nothing concrete yet. So let's just call this a Friday bump :)

I know I have said it once in this thread but I want to say it again.. Zayne is one of the best overall designers/developers in the bizz... If you need a loyal hard working designer, this is your guy !!! He has been doing projects with me and it has been an honor having him helping me.. Someone better grab him before I offer him a fulltime position !!

Just reading your recent thread in the sell > buy forum (the affiliate design) and followed the link to this thread that has lots of info about you.

I just thought I`d bump this for you because your skills look very impressive my friend.
