GoDaddy is meant for those folks that are just starting out on the net. Its not meant for professionals. Its more suited for grampa's old navy photo group. :2 cents:

Now that we have that settled. Listen up:

That message was given because you are trying to host an adult site on their FREE website package.

Knowing the type of traffic a successful adult site can pull, they don't want cheapo's to ruin their cost ratio. GoDaddy can afford to give away free sites because they host a bunch of 'em in the cheapest virtual environment ever.

Pay for your hosting instead of expecting a free ride and everything will be fine. Follow the law and you won't have anything to worry about.

Move along folks...nothing to see here.

Your taking the information I posted about what there TOS are regarding using them to start a site for free, divulging it, then talkin' about free rides and shit!

That ain't the point dude, it is not written anywhere except after you reserve the domain and use a credit given to you to provide hosting. You click the credit and their is a page with that disclaimer...

Yes there is something to be seen here. If your bandwidth gets too high you transfer it or upgrade it. Talkin' about cheapo's, free rides, is fuckin' retarted dude. Many people, myself included, pay lots of money for several hosts.

I doubt they would take your domain from you but there TOS eludes to it. So now, I will not use their "cheapo, free ride" host which they offer on any adult sites because of that and from what I just learned.

Free vs. Paid

The bottom line is that GoDaddy will not NOT allow 'Adult' content on its free sites.
GoDaddy WILL allow 'Adult' content on it's paid plans.

mcfagden, don't know why anyone would use godaddy at all

baddog 02-13-2009 12:11 PM

While GoDaddy is a great registrar I would never recommend using them as a host for anything I was doing SEO with.

tiger 02-13-2009 01:59 PM

They put that in there knowing no one will read it so that they can host adult sites and then cancel them for any reason if there is ever a problem/dispute.

I would not use godaddy for anything mainstream or adult.

And if does have pornographic material... what then... mofo's

You just answered your own question "your free web site cannot have any of the following .... .... ...." Some adult websites use crazy amounts of bandwidth...they rather not let you have it for free. If your paying for your hosting they allow it.

www.phatservers.com , for the win.

They answer every stupid support email I send.... with clear, concise answers... within MINUTES... and some of the support dudes even fix the problems for me if it's like a wordpress issue.. or at least google to show me the fix for it.. if they're busy.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Phatservers.

Downtime is why it isn't good for SEO.

Never had a dedicated server with godaddy (I good idea for adult), but their deluxe plan works very well for me, and most likely moving soon to their unlimited plan...and host unlimited domains, and have not seen any down time.

For a mainstream site I have I use Yahoo hosting....never had a problem in 8 years...it's like a rock. :thumbsup

yeah... initiated another free hosting last night and copied the TOS note. It does appear to be just for the free credit host they offer you when you use them for a registrar.

I think the TOS in general are WAY out there but that's likely in the fine print everywhere... i.e. "godaddy entirely at their own discretion, etc. etc.". Oh well... I like them to register a domain name, their big, less likely to go under especially in these times.

You should be okay with them, I worry about my domains also, but if a register decided to take your domain...that might be grounds for a lawsuit. Just hope your jury is not too conservative when your domain is licksweetpussygrandma.com :1orglaugh

The downtime hasn't effected my ranking, it does however cost me sales. I have had a site #1 in google for the past 2.5 years thats hosted on my Godaddy server and has TONS of competition. :2 cents:

Also mmc why in the hell are you trying to use free hosting?? Especially if you are about to launch a progam?

I have a couple of the deluxe packages for small misc sites and never had any downtime. I have an older unmanaged dedicated and the fucking thing goes down twice a week it seems, fortunately I usually catch it within minutes.

A clarification:

Talking about "cheapos" was indeed the point merely because of your inability to comprehend why GoDaddy's TOS says "No Pornography" for their FREE site credits. If I hit a nerve, then so be it.

Now as to the topic of "retardation", I wasn't the one who started a thread about GoDaddy not hosting adult websites. The first time I read the TOS for their FREE sites I understood...as did several others.
