I'd love to hook up with a group and do a charter during the Florida show!

A few points I need to make...when I go offshore, I go offshore to fish, if you want to get drunk and puke into the ocean keep your ass on the beach, I'm serious about it. you dont bring alcohol on my boat, period. Nor do you bring bananas or anything with a photo of a banana or the smell of a banana or the word banana, you do and it goes overboard...quickly. If you want to go out and catch serious fish...I got it sewn up. federal snapper season doesnt open till June 1st in the gulf but cobia run strong inshore from about april on, as do Kings and spanish mackeral. Dolphin start making an appearance in april as well with wahoo not far behind. Big grouper and amberjack move onto the ledge starting in May...grouper can be had there year round though. blackfin tuna and an occasional yellowfin will start showing up in blue water in may as well |

And anyone who doesn't know about bananas....well you don't have your captains license. |

but you cant deny that a hot chick holding an 80lb cobia doesnt make a great picture. :1orglaugh |
meant 40lb :1orglaugh

Looks like Mike is about as serious as fishing as I am.
But I always bring beer. It's not technically fishing without beer. Mostly for the ride in. Nothing beats slugging down a cold one after reeling in big ones all day! My best numbers are 60 miles out so that can be up to a 2 hour ride depending on the seas. I've got literally thousands of old loran numbers that belonged to an old commercial fisherman but they are mostly 100 - 120 miles out. That's too far. |
I loved to fish wild trouts, but I haven't done it in a while.

and the fish or fuck comment was just to let those who aint serious know how serious we really are. We routinely go out 70 or more miles so ya the ride in can be long but my experience is if it isnt there it isnt a temptation...now if Im going with my regular guys...no big deal but if I have a 6 foot wahoo or an 80 lb cobia on and yer drunk ass knocks him off the line trying to gaff him...you better be prepared to swim LOL |
i dont know if Im surprised nobody has asked about the bananas or not
|
LOL its a very long running tradition that bananas on a boat are bad luck, and oddly enough the ONE time I made an exception, we lost 2 bilge pumps and capsized 35 miles out...I got one mayday out with our position....thats when I said no more nbananas EVER and no more boats with anything less than a full transom
fuck self bailing cockpits.... |

but i bet you haven't heard this story: The vice president of Fruit Of The Lomb underwear went on a trip with a charter with a captain out of Miami, after that trip when he got back to work he made the factory remove the banana from their logo. All because of what he learned how superstitious fisherman were towards bananas. so now Fruit of the Lomb doesent have a banana in their logo. That captain made him remove his drawers before going out fishing! lol That's total bullshit though. i take bananas all the time, especially banana and peanut butter samiches :thumbsup and still limit out |
I hadnt heard that story...classic though
but I absolutely will never ever again allow aven a drawing of a banana on my boat. |
