It's called authority man.. You can't just create shit, toss it online, and get google listings for the words.

The "dash", is treated as a word split to Google. So it sees the word "t" and the word "rain", rain being a almost impossible to rank for of course. Being so, you have to create to some serious authority for the word "t-rain".

This is just how google works today, you have to get links, prob best to do it to the youtube.com account, with the word "t-rain" the the link pointing to youtube. And not one or 10 links, like prob 20-50+ to make the authority stand strong.

Otherwise... your only option is use a different name.

Ok cool this is what i was lookin for.. Ill start spamin youtube with t-rain in the vids.. some have it but ill make sure to put it in every tag..

You want your name to come up in google... everything I am saying is completely relevant to that goal. The best way to get results is to gain traffic and backlinks. If you had a real product you might be able to reach your goal. Comparing your "5 minute" freestyle videos to a product is like comparing my daughters crayon drawings to an actual artist. Take my advice... go back to the basics... stop making excuses about why you shouldn't do some work in a real studio, do some real work and then market yourself. Until then... you won't get the results you want.

Putting 1000 videos on youtube with the word t-rain will mean the word "rain".. That's what the point of all of this.

Until you get "LINKS", pointing to youtube, a domain, a page, a social site, something with the word "t-rain" in the anchor text.. You will probably never rank for it.

All my youtube songs say t-rain i looked at em.. And songs from stickam say T-Rain on each one but still wont come up t-rain..

search stickam and t-rain 2 songs out of my 300 plus songs all saying t-rain come up..

I Invented Search Engons.

It would be a lot easier if you had a T-Rain site first.

.com is taken but you could register T-Rain.net in the meantime and put some of your stuff on there. It would get your name in google much faster.

Social Network sites profile with custom URL that include T-rain are also good.

On stickam.com you are young devil, on your site young rain, you need to be consistent. make it all T-Rain.

I think that you are up against it with this name, even if you get links in.... the search engines don't want to see the dash as an important part of the name, so you are better off changing your name... it is like musicians that have a two letter name, most site searches and forums won't even allow a search on it, so they are much better off just renaming themselves something unique and easily searched for


as evidence that google ignores the dash even when many links are in, I did a search (with quotes even) on "coca-cola", and some sites showed up in the top 50 with just "coca cola", no dash, and no coca-cola on the site... which shows me that even if you started getting links that google will probably still see your searches as "t rain" and you'll never get the results you are hoping for


and don't mind the haters, all artists have people that don't appreciate or don't get it.... as long as your art works for you that is what matters the most

apart from what TheDoc said also get a blogger blog and start using your name on the blog "T-Rain" get links to the blog from social sites etc.

If you want to rank in the SE's for a word there has to be some page with the word, google can't read videos.

Ok now when i upload a youtube video it takes all the hyphens out. I noticed this earlier so maybe somthing is changing. you can see the hyphens in the videos uploaded earlier but now it takes the hyphens out completly and i usually use more then one hyphen to label a video.

I will not change my name that is redicules. I will be going by just the name rain too. Take out the T- and it leaves Rain. Id rather battle for that word then even think of changing my name.

well, the battle is just going to be a battle that you'll never win as far as the search engines go.. maybe add a byline to your name, like Mister T-Rain, or something, anything that when coupled with your name it will now make your name unique and not "train" to the search engines

On the limewire fourm Someone said to goo with TeeRain Maybe TeaRain.. I had a thought of going T-Pot too.. Like teapot it dosent ring to me with just the hyphen.. But that has a hypen too.. That was back when i first started using t-rain back some 10 years ago.
