HONG KONG (AFP) ? A Hong Kong filmmaker aims to lure audiences back to the cinema with what what he says is the world's first 3D erotic movie, according to a newspaper report.

Stephen Shiu Jnr., chairman of One Dollar Production, said he would use special effects to make the love scenes in his 30 million-Hong Kong dollar (four million US) "3D Sex and Zen" as realistic as possible.

"The 3D erotica will probably be the world's first," he told the Sunday Morning Post.

"Just imagine that you'll be watching it as if you were sitting beside the bed."

The film is based loosely on the 17th century Chinese erotic classic "The Carnal Prayer Mat," a tale about how overindulgence in pleasure can lead to tragedy.

Shiu told the newspaper that about 25 to 30 percent of the movie would be love scenes, including many close-ups. He said the actresses would appear to be only a few centimentres (inches) from the viewers, who would have to wear special glasses to enjoy the 3D effects.

The producer said he was planning to use adult video actresses from Japan and Taiwan. But he admitted having difficulties in finding the male lead.

"We're having trouble finding a male lead who is willing to undress in front of the camera. It's a lot more difficult to find an actor than an actress for this kind of movie."

Shooting will begin in April and it is expected to be released in time for Christmas, the report said.

Hong Kong has seen the closure of many cinemas in recent years as traditional movie-goers switch to watching films on DVD at home.

Ok, so I signed up, downloaded the samples and here is my HONEST review.....

First off, the shear size alone is kind of redundant, I get the fact that your trying to show off the "quality" of your content, but you could have achieved the same result without having the 1 file being over 1gig

2nd, the girl is nice, BUT nothing special, same type of girl is all around the industry both in video as well as internet sites.

3rd, the actual 3-D is honestly really nothing special, I'm almost sorry to say this, (Really I WANTED to be shocked and awed by this) too much of that video is "out of frame" Meaning... you cut the top of her head off which TOTALLY negates the 3-D aspect. WITHOUT having your subject ENTIRELY IN FRAME the 3-D is lost, as she is 'stuck' in screen and it kills the illusion of 3-D

Next up, the director, filmer, or handler must not have allot of experience with this niche because frankly there is no "popping" by the model.... 90% of EVERY 3-D video I've seen the model is made to "play to the camera" IE, she puts her body parts to the camera allowing them to "POP" out of the screen at the viewer, either by extending her hand, arm, face, leg, foot, ass to the camera, THAT ALONE is needed in ANY 3-D movie to get the best results for the viewer.

All in all the sample video was just like any other porn out there, with SLIGHT POPPING (mostly the bathtub the video COULD have been MUCH BETTER, but sadly it falls to the waist side and is lumped into the bulk of non 3-D content.

Finally, when it comes to the actual QUALITY of the video, once again nothing special, It looked FINE on my laptop LCD screen, but when jacked into my 50 inch HD LCD tv, the picture completely SUCKED, and the entire video was blurry and MOST of the 3-D aspect was totally LOST....

I then burned the video (raw quality) to DVD and played it on the same TV, the quality was a BIT BETTER, but same issues were seen, the 3-D was pretty much lost, and the entire video was pretty much useless.

So I personally doubt the "High Quality" you are claiming for this content, cause the bigger you try to make the screen the worse the picture looks.... and with a 1gig+ video file (20 mins long) I should have been able to AT LEAST DOUBLE THE SCREEN SIZE before loosing ANY QUALITY, but the quality started to deteriorate at 25% increase.

Sorry, to be so blunt, but you've been pleading with people to "Watch the clip first" and so I did, and what I saw did not impress me much at all.

I do see a POTENTIAL here, but not without some overhauls and better camera work.

Just my mind you
