Lahaina is reasonable, but Ka'anapali up the road is outrageous again because from Ka'anapail up through Kapalua is all luxury again..... Living here is not cheap by any stretch of the imagination..... it CAN be.... but I wouldn't want to live that way. This will be the most rent I've ever paid anywhere.... topping even Silicon Valley with my one bedroom condo for $1537 a month..... this is more than double that, but well worth it. :glugglug |

this 3 bedroom condo I'm in right now just sold for $155k....
extremely close to the beach, but it's pretty much not-so-nice if you know what I mean..... we took it because we had to.... no one else would rent to us sight-unseen from California over the phone.... but our lease is up, and we are fucking GONE baby... :) |

Wailea is sweet. I just got married at the Grand Wailea 2 weeks ago. We had a real estate agent showing us around looking at some places. I'd move there right now if it wasn't for the 30 day mandatory animal quarrantine. |

I lived in Hawaii for twenty years, before moving to Seattle. Maui rocks, and Waimea is niiiiiice -- though up country Kula is where I'd settle if we move back -- I still visit Maui three times a year -- gotta do it, once you know what it's like, and how it works your head, there's no option. |

and that's why I don't mind leasing right now either.... if we still like it a year from now, we'll buy it.... but I can't force myself to get locked into a place unless I KNOW I wanna stay there for a long damn time..... so leasing kicks ass for that purpose.... :thumbsup
