I go to St. Maarten. Less developed but gorgeous scenery, some casinos and nice beaches. The golfing isn't very good there. But the nude beaches make up for it...

I have lived in the Caribbean for 4 years, i would recommend Martinique.. it's one of the most beautiful islands I've been, if you have no problem with French speaking people than this is the place to go.
I stayed there for 2 years..

There are tons of island hoppers taking off all day long. They did major renovations to the airport in 2006 so I am sure you would have no problems getting flights to the Virgin Islands.

Don't go to Peurto Rico, no lifegaurds at the beaches...seen 2 people drown in front of me, not sure if they made it. Beggers on the streets and just not much to do there. If you want to see Peurto Ricans just come to New York City...a lot of stuff to do here also.

Why would you say St. Maarten was less developed? They have pier for large cruise ships (many far larger islands don't have it), it's one of the cleanest and safest islands in the Caribbean and airport beach is just fucking bad ass (on French side).

Cuba is absolutely bad ass. I would also highly recommend St. Barts ;)

St Maarten is far from safe.

What is up with BVI? Seems that there isn't much about them up on the net in terms of info etc (other than banking lol).

I spent the better part of 10 year working in the Caribbean on cruise ships -- and visited nearly all the islands at some point.

My top five picks in no set order.

1. Barbados (Atlantic side)
2. St. John's (USVI)
3. Tortola (BVI)
4. St. Lucia
5. Bonaire (DWI)

If you want crazy place for gals and nightlife, but still with nice beach go to Boca Chica in Dominican Republic.
