Offer something unique and of substance to the surfer for the niche or category, if its allready there and there is nothing to stand you out, OR if you are blatently reselling or building for profit as affiliate, then don't bother.

having a friend there makes it short work, I've seen sites get listed within a month of the right person buying the site, it is definitely not full of any integrity anymore
dmoz is not relevant anymore anyways, it is just another directory, don't waste much time worrying about it

its only been the late 3 years or so that have went downhill with dmoz...
I only assume they got more and more discouraged with the overwhelming growth of google and decided to not care and/or moved on for the most part...Comment

There is no honest way to get listed on Dmoz. That's exactly why Dmoz sucks shit. It's a cess pool of corrupt greedy webmasters listing all their own sites and denying their competitors. To get listed, you either have to know one of the editors and have him or her list you, bribe an editor, or become an editor and list yourself.
