![]() Is it Time for a Members Area makeover?
Offering your customers a wide variety of adult oriented content is a given for paysite owners. But deciding on WHAT and HOW you offer to your hard earned customers will be a major key to your member retention and ultimately how much revenue you will generate in 2009. The key area of change that I see necessary is for paysite affiliate programs to concentrate as much time on maximizing the potential of their members areas as they have on their tours. Getting the customer to join is only the first step. What you so with them after that will determine the true value that customer represents. Because of this I think it IS the optimum time for a members area makeover for many programs. This brings me to the subject of upsells. I have heard many thoughts on how upsell products should be marketed in the members area as well as how program operators think when it comes to the layout, design, presentation and the mix of upsell products that should be offered. Based on this information there seems to be two schools of thought. One way of thinking is to offer a limited but select mix of products including webcams, dating, vod, toys, pills and any other adult oriented accessories you would like to market. The thinking here is that the program feels that they think they know what their customer wants and makes those upsell product choices for them. But what if those limited number of choices is incorrect? The second way of thinking is to build your members areas with the thinking that the more opportunities I offer my customer the more opportunities I will have to both satisfy the customer and ultimately make the maximum additional income off of the customer. This I believe is the best way to build "retention" and I believe that most paysite program owners have lost focus on this aspect of the business because they have concentrated the majority of their efforts on getting the sign up. Enough food for though on a Friday. Anyone interested in discussing ideas about increasing your upsell income please contact me via ICQ anytime. Our offices are located in Atlanta, GA.

No doubt Jim, good post.
Time to focus more on retention by giving them quality updated content. Member Channels can help there too. ![]()
