    anyone snowboard in North Carolina?

We are going to drive up from Florida. Just wanted to see if anyone has gone to Sugar Mountain or Beech Mountain.

And before anyone even says they are beginner mountains. This is my first time snowboarding....

Well, how are they? Any recommended places to stay? Anything that we should avoid?

I think those are some good starting points.

          Thanks!

they are fun, Beech Mountain is ideal for you being a noob. nothing to avoid really, um, dont buy drugs off the guys in the bars on the slopes, i hear a lot of set up/robberys shit like that happens, dunno. they deal in coke and im a weed guy, so i dont really know about that, just what i heard.

um... im guessing you are renting a board, make sure when you do that to tell them you are new at this, tell them to explain to you the sizes, and make sure that the take a few minutes fitting you, bindings all that. also, are you in shape? if you are in shape? if you are not, get the boots that snap into the board, its very easy to get up if you are out of shape if you can fast disconnect from the board and put a foot down.

now, you are going to start on the starter slope, youll be happy when you make it down it with out falling down, but thats not really where your issue will lie, youve got to figure out how to turn. lift with your front foot, pressure on the back, and kick outword.

lol dude have fun, good luck. wear SKI pants.

Well, that's a good bit of advice.

I actually did pick up a board, thanks to Sherm. I didn't pay alot for it, but I would like to have my own board and not rent. I have skateboarded for well over 12 years. And I did actually ride once before out in Vegas.

How about Sugar Mountain, for riding?

and with a skateboarding background, to turn, think old school power slides.

i agree....even if you are new to boarding...get the proper setup.

you can get a decent setup for 1k...will last you a few years

the step ins you will ruin...they dont offer the same level of control i find

the only reason i told him to get those would be if he was out of shape

its a bitch being a fat fuck and trying to get up with out those.

sure you lose a ton of control, but i was just trying to keep the guy standing heh

it's gonna be more of a pain in the ass for a poor fat fuck when he gets the mechanism snowpacked and shit won't work and he's left trying to pick them clean with his fingers. not to mention he's probably gonna eat shit twice as often with a poorly responsive edge. even the fattest of fucks can sit on his ass and unlatch the ratchets easily. he's gonna be on his ass all day anyways if that's the case...

i can't believe there's companies still trying to perfect the braindead idea of stepin bindings...

i snapped a few pics the other day when i was up on the hill. there was an inversion going down and the top was nice and warm/slushy. hasn't been shit for powder in almost a couple weeks, but it was still a fun day aside from busting my ribs up. i got a few days of downtime to work through, but i usually hit the hill daily...

i can see the backside out my kitchen window...

Nah, I got a pretty good setup on it's way. No step in bindings. I got the strap ones. I got the whole setup, including boots for 400. That should last me a few years.

PS, I'm not that big, maybe a bit extra around the middle ;) I can bend over and touch my toes still!
