Do they make such a thing? A leash that would separate under say 75# pressure that you could snap back together?
I need a break away leash before I get killed

Why do you want your dog to get out of the restraint?
It might run into traffic or bite a kid's head off.<!--BEGIN SIMUTRONICS PLAY BUTTON CODE -->

well - youre defeating the purpose of a leash then right? I mean sure you are setting a break away limit, but enough to not throw you on your ass isnt enough to keep him 'leashed'...
not sure what your solution is right off hand...Comment

He doesn't have any tension on the leash until he decides he would rather run on the left instead of the right . . . or when he decides to go back.
He only made a sudden stop once, but that was enough to teach me a lesson. He doesn't need a leash as a restraint.Comment

Then put that breakaway link there and have at it...Comment

Out of curiosity, what's your reason for riding a bike with the dog.
I wouldn't think the two activities at the same time makes for a good experience as you are finding out. If you get your exercise riding a bike, do that and then go walk the dog. If your riding a bike so the dog can run more I think that's over doing it. The dog can get enough exercise on a nice walk without a bike.
If you're just trying to kill two birds with one stone it might just end up something else besides a bird that gets killed

You should train him not to pull.
get a prong collar. Just make sure you use it correctly. Most people have no idea how they are used because they don't come with instructions.
They go high on the neck, just under the ears. Use just enough links to make it snug. It's impossible for the dog to pull if its on correctly. If its loose and low on the neck, then it could become a choker(with prongs) and thats not good.
I trained my Lab with one when he was having pulling problems.
You should focus on some training, or he's going to pull your arm out, or get loose from you. If you want some tips other than the prong collar, let me know.Last edited by bronco67; 06-01-2009, 06:52 AM.

You can also couple that with a non-pull harness that is actually better for the dog as well
