I bet your a hoot on a date. "hey watch me put a hair in my food and we can get it for free". I despise people like you. You are the reason that everything goes up in price and why I have to take 5 million twisties off of my kids toys when I buy them. Scumbags like you need to go on your special island and steal off of each other all you want. You deserve each other. So let's take this to a base level since that's all you seem to understand. Movie comes out in the theatre. Not a single person goes to see it or buys a dvd because they all downloaded it. None of them wanted to pay for the right to see it on a big screen and didn't want to pay for the dvd. Just how many movies would be made? You are a pathetic thief plan and simple. |

I saw Gran Torino on saturday and liked it a lot. The ending was a bit of a surprise to me, though I'm sure those out there that will say it was predictable. There was one part that I thought was hokey... one of the lines he used when he confronted the three black dudes hassling his neighbor, but I still laughed when he said it.
Good movie, imo. Worth seeing.

Good movie. Eastwood was great but the supporting actors were not very strong.
As far as bitter old racist men go, he nailed it. |

You think Wal-Mart, any store for that matter, would just let you walk out with a movie and not pay for it because you believe you only have to pay for something once? Quote:

When a movie gets released, someone has already hit on this a bit, its success is based on the amount of money it makes first and its popularity second. So if a good movie comes out and most decide they would rather illegally download it at home, there are MANY negative affects. 1. The main effect is if a movie doesn't make enough revenue. Even though it might be a masterpiece, it will become hard to find a DVD distributor. This is specifically important in the Independent Movie arena. So not only would they be getting screwed at the box office, now their income is continued to be offset by inability to distribute. You think cable channels pay top dollar to air box office flops? 2. It's lack of success can lead to the writer, director, producers, etc. never getting work again or push their career back for making a movie that didn't bring in enough revenue. Same with the actors. 3. Your rationale only pans out at far as the Hollywood Studios and ends there. What about all those people who depend on royalities or percentages of profits, rentals, DVD purchases, etc. If you are illegally downloading movies you have COMPLETELY screwed these people out of their hard work. This is especially true in the case of independent movies where normal salaries are often traded for a percentage in future earnings. What you are doing is stealing, plain and simple. Your "I pay a cable bill" is not a justification for a free for all on anything you want. Paying a cable bill entitles you to a SERVICE ONLY not a RIGHT to every movie ever made.

I can't stand that everyone seems to enjoy this film. I wasn't going to write a review about it, but now I almost have to just to give it a thorough bashing like it deserves.

Until you hop off your horse and realize that, every single time you fast forward through the commercials of any and every television show you've ever taped, you're robbing the studios of revenue. The sponsors pay huge sums of money to deliver their message to you and you skip right past it... There isn't one among you that don't do it - and please, just don't even try to make me believe you don't - so if you think my hands are dirty - your hands are just as dirty and you're just as guilty... and I just can't tolerate being preached to by a hypocrite. |

it was an awesome movie. Clint Eastwood was Clint of the dirty harry days. Great drama and the girl/guy playing the neighbors were great. Excellent storyline. Clint's character is like Archie Bunker to the extreme. Thought the girl was pretty cute too..
Movie of the Year!!
