No. Nor do I block the ads on here as it is what pays for the forum in the first place. I do like to see what is being offered.

Ya know I would not be shocked if the admins banned people that bragged about blocking the ads around here. It is one thing to do it and another to talk about it in front of everyone and informing those who would not of thought of it how to do it.

its a battle you can never win. same with people who Tivo/DVR tv shows and fast foward through the commericals. they say they are paying for tv, but they are actually paying for the signal to be sent to their house, not for the show itself.

either way, i like the ads on GFY for the most part with the exception of the ones with sound and that obnoxious blinking one (i cant remember the name). at least the ads are on topic (if your a webmaster) so you get to konw about new programs

I bet the freeloading surfers that come to your sites/galleries/whatever say the same thing.

There's ads and then there's OVERBOARD with ads. Most of the skins have larger headers and flashier things that I hate to stare at.

ANY obnoxious blinking ad I find I will block and I don't care if my surfers do the same.

I do like the blue colors that are left behind right now.

Whats next, bitching about using FFVB to block unwanted sponsor threads?

Actually I did get a few sponsors make off handed comments about it... more in jest sort of, but that they'd be losing some of their star power due to members being able to ignore them.

My point is, if people aren't ignoring them with FfVb, then they're mentally ignoring them anyhow.... or worse, hating the sponsor for it.

At least with this method, you forget within seconds which sponsor even had contest threads going. I couldn't even name one right now that has a contest thread on the front page because I simply don't see them. Better that than me resenting them for pandering to contest whores just to annoy me.

But, that being said, it has far more uses than just contest threads on GFY. There have been many other boards where I've seen mods recommend it to their own users to ignore sticky threads if they are annoyed by them. Or to ignore political threads or so on and so forth.

Anyway, just saying... since you brought it up. I understand how my extension can be looked at negatively in the way you suggested by some. I personally like to think it brings out about more positivity than negativity.

I block ads solely because of the audible ones. I let several go past until one day I said "enough" and denied ads.gofuckyourself.com in my access rules.

I don't mind seeing banner ads, I just don't want to hear them. That's the only reason I've placed a blanket ban on the ads.
